Japanese Megadrive and Everdrive MD
« on: September 08, 2013, 02:58 AM »
Hello everybody! My name´s Oscar, from Spain.

I have a problem with my flashcart. When I put the cart in a japanese NTSC-J Megadrive (HAA-2510) and I turn on the system nothing happens. I mean, the power led doesn´t turn up and nothing appears in TV. I have tested with two japanese Megadrive (2510) and I got the same results with both. This japanese systems are working perfectly with regular cartridges.
When I use the Everdrive MD cartridge with another PAL Megadrive, it works.

Do you know where is the problem? I am doing something wrong? I would like to use Everdrive MD cart with japanese systems.

Thank you

Greetings

Hi oscar. As the everdrive works in other machines, it seems to me a compatability issue with jap megadrives. I cant find any info on this on the net tho. Trying a jap to english switch seems a option but is a bit of effort for no surity it would work.

Mine works perfectly fine on my Japanese MD, kinda strange that you're having this problem.

You just need to open a console and remove "lock" mechanism :)
I made the same thing several days ago.

PAL/NTSC-US carts naturally doesnt fit to the JAP consoles because of the "cartrige lock" mechanism.

Glad I saw this thread. I just bought a (J) Mega Drive and still waiting for my EDMD... after reading this thread, I went right down stairs and opened it up, removed the plastic lock mechanism. Hopefully I'll be ready to rock and roll when I get my cart. :)
