Can't get Everdrive to import save
« on: September 04, 2021, 05:53 AM »
I'm trying to import a .sav file for Pokémon Crystal into my Everdrive GB x7, and I've been having trouble. I renamed the file to .srm since I had read that typically worked for GB/GBC files. Then I put that file inside the /GBSYS/SAVES directory. However, no matter what I do, I can't get the Everdrive to recognize the file and load it when I start the game. I am certain the file names of the rom and the save are the same, and I have tried saving a new game file on the ED itself, which resulted in a VERY odd save file with a .srm.sav extension. Though even after deleting that file, the save still persisted on the device. Even after loading a totally different game, making a save there, and then loading back into Crystal, the old save file which had been deleted on the filesystem persisted. I'm getting super frustrated on this matter - could anyone help me out? :(

EDIT: Just to be clear, I always copied the save to RAM after each time I re-copied it to the SD card

Did you replace the save file with your imported save file after loading a different game?

Yes, that was how I did it. Even after deleting the file, loading a different game, saving in that game, and re-loading Crystal, the deleted save is still there, even if the file no longer exists on the SD card.
