Thanks for the update!  Lovely to see so much support even for an older cart!  Curious to re-test that Space Shuttle game to see if that's affected, I think that was MMC1 though!

I sorted this btw!  Long story... Basically there was 2 damaged traces on the MD, which I patched up.  What I didn't think was that one of the tiny wires was inductively coupling with the trace under it.  All I did was move the wire by 0.5mm, so it sits over the trace its patching, and bam - 100% stability with Master System again.  Hard to believe, but logical I guess.

Spoke too soon!  It's intermittant - when warm it seems to work a bit better.  It's like an impedance problem.  I am guessing some MKII revisions have an incompatibility as I have a 2nd unit of the same board revision and that behaves the same way.  MD games work fine though.  These are VA0.  Anyone else find issues with SMS games on OS9 with Mega Everdrive v1?

Solved: It was a bad connection on a trace!  Fixed the trace, all OK =D

Anyone come across this?  I just get a black screen no matter what game I select and no matter what region I choose in the options.  I am using OS v9 which works fine for MD and 32X games.  Now I've come to try and play SMS games it just black screens no matter what (reset option disabled, tried switching off megakey etc) - makes no difference at all.

Is the MKII megadrive incompatible?

Tested - v2, working sweet with my Super Famicom =D   I did notice a problem with 2 games - Star Fox (PAL) and Yoshis Island (PAL) both start but hang with some graphical issue - like some text has a messed up font, on a black background.  But those same games in NTSC region work fine.  Strangely Doom from PAL region works fine despite this being NTSC.  I did also find that if you reset back to the menu and load another game it would freeze to a black screen, but after power off and on it would then boot that game.  I also found Star Fox 2 showed a black screen to start with, but after pressing reset it booted.   All in all, very impressive release!

I got to level 3 in Doom.  Does anyone know how you save in Doom?  I saw no options in-game, and just pressed reset.  I cannot remember now if you are supposed to hold reset to go back to the menu for it to save or what.  Been a while since I used my SD2SNES.

Thanks!  That video link is really useful!  Interesting as I think there's not much difference in performance there.  Around 13.5% difference I think.  Not really noticeable whilst playing.

Just wanted to add my thanks too - I've not tried it yet but I've seen the success on YouTube, and wow - great job!!!  I understand there are small performance differences, assumed its due to the lack of caching you mentioned in an earlier post, but wow - as is this is just 100% awesome!  I didn't think this would happen with the SD2SNES if I am honest, just because Ikari is pretty bloody genius, and the fact we hadn't heard much about this before I thought it was perhaps out of the scope for the FPGA.  Trully awesome!  Hopefully this will be merged with the official branch!  Just amazing, hats off to you sir - you really should announce a PayPal donation address or something, I will buy you some beers!

When I say ground, I am talking about the -ve return path, not earth on mains outlet.  Pin 1 on 60 pin socket, or pin 72 on 72 pin socket.  Do you have a multimeter to test with?

See these as reference.  This is the cart end obviously, but you might need to do this on the NT mobo - hard to tell which end is best to add the tape.   So in order to work out where your ground pin is on the NT mobo end just apply a bit of logic - ie. look at how the cart plugs into the NT and then you can work out the pin on the mobo vs these photos.

Also check you aren't shorting anything with the copper tape before you power it up.  If you don't feel comfortable doing this test it might be better off leaving it to someone else!

EDIT: Make sure your Copper tape as an insulated sticky back as well, otherwise you will short out vias.

Thanks for the update GadgetUK; much appreciated.  I was confusing the return path with the center earth ground prong.

Oddly enough, this issue has occurred much less frequently over the past couple weeks.  Previously there were days where the Everdrive/powerPAK were nearly unplayable on the NT due to the issues I've described, but I haven't had many issues playing Gradius, Life Force, Crystalis and Kung Fu on the N8 and PowerPAK over the past few weeks.  However, with as sporadic as this issue has been, I would not be surprised to be plagued with this issue again in the future.

I'm going to hold off on the copper tape for the time being, but will be following the chatter on the forums closely and may consider it in the future.  Thanks again

There are a few reasons the problem can appear to be better at some times vs others - humidity, temperature and noise in the general vicinity will all have an effect.   I found the same thing - with particular relationship to temperature and humidity when I noticed and fixed a similar problem with Neo Geo multicarts.

It's also possible there's an issue where the video encoder connects to PPU buses - does this NT output HDMI?  What kind of video output does it generate?

I have to say from the comments posted above (especially about the affect it makes when holding part of the shielding), couple with the fact that original carts work perfectly vs the everdrive, it's very very likely to be an impedence problem, and if the ground (flattened with ripples removed) copper tape is applied to the right place it could solve it.  What you described about it lasting longer is a sign that you are onto something, but you haven't quite dealt with the problem.  That's not placibo - unless you have compared side by side and it is just your imagination.  If it lasts longer and seems to do more, the chances are what you've done has helped.   

Does anyone want to sell one of these NT's - if you get sick of the problems I will buy it off you, because I believe there's every chance this can be easily resolved.

Just the fact that original carts = no problem, vs everdrive = problem, can ONLY be related to the traces, impedence, ringing, parasitic capacitance imo, otherwise original carts wouldn't work either.
