What is the source of your ROM files? You may need to locate a No-Intro Romset to get better compatibility.

Nobody said anyone's consoles were broken/rendered useless due explicitly to using an Everdrive. No one places the Everdrive in the same quality of manufacturing of the Chinese Multi-carts either.
Hypothetical example: If X console can be expected to last 40 years under normal conditions, but stressing the components shortens it's lifespan to 39 years, this would demonstrate the point of the article.
It's not saying definitively anything other than more voltage than design limits is not good - which is why I used the language I did in both of my posts.
I haven't returned my Everdrive X7. I'm not afraid to use my X7. But I'm also cognizant that it stresses my console more than a regular copy of Sonic 2 would.

Don't pretend that there is some kind of special sauce in the conductors and resistors that make up the Everdrive boards. There is nothing that makes them an exception to the laws of thermodynamics.
If you stress electronic components past maximum tolerances there is a reasonable expectation that if regularly stressed in this way, they will tend to fail more quickly than if they were operating within regular tolerances.
This is the point of the criticism. Not a condemnation, not a fantasy. You don't need a datasheet to know this.
However, he does utilize at least one of Krikzz' own datasheets in his real world observations of voltage measurements to illustrate how some Everdrives expose the flash chip to voltages that exceed stated maximum voltage tolerances. Are you claiming that somehow Krizz' own datasheet is wrong?
And if they do this, and regularly exceed these limits - are you also stating that this in some way does not have the potential to wear out the components that are handling these higher voltages more rapidly?
It's not a BS article. He's not just some "unskilled person" who wants to harm Krikzz or the Everdrive's reputation. He is someone who is advocating people to be cautious with their older electronics.
So, don't treat it like a hit job and don't disparage him for creating a conversation about how flash carts and multi-carts interact with our retro consoles.

If you don't plan to use the save state feature allowing to save your game progress at any point of time you can buy X5.
If you plan to develop for Sega Mega Drive / Genesis then likely you need X7.
The guy who wrote that article doesn't have sufficient hardware skills to make such a conclusion.
EverDrives don't damage consoles.
It does make sense to trust facts but not an article of an unskilled person.
If EverDrives would damage consoles there should be a substantial number of damaged consoles.
But so far there are no such reports. Only that article.
I have to call BS here. The guy who wrote this is absolutely NOT unskilled.
db Electronics is well respected in retro gaming circles, contributing often to the Retro Roundtable - with other very skilled contributors such as Voultar, RetroRGB, and HD Retrovision.
He also does not say that it will outright wreck your console. He suggests that the voltage handling on the x7 may increase the amount of wear and tear over time and could potentially shorten the console lifespan.
Administrator or not, you shouldn't be so offended of valid criticisms and should seek to correctly read and understand the article before spouting off hate speech.

NTSC SNES 001 and SNES 101 here with tabs removed on both consoles. I don't have any issues with cartridge fit or need to adjust to boot the cartridge.

Maybe format the sd card and fresh install everything (system files and roms) on it. Just do a new unpacking of your files. Don't copy it from the card and back again.
I have an AV fami with hi def nes and used the Everdrive to update the firmware without any issues. Have done it twice.

The adapter needs a small modification to prevent freezing and open up expansion audio and proper mmc5 handling. The issue with freezing has something to with the clock timings and signal interference if I remember right. I did the mod on my adapter and then put some copper tape (grounded properly, as shown in the pictures) on the front side to shield it from interference on those long traces.

You can call it what you want. I bought it in November directly from Watermelon, despite whatever disbelief you have. It was the BITS version with expedited shipping. Total cost $49.

« on: February 18, 2017, 10:18 PM »Now before everyone gets up in arms about piracy, there are MANY ppl that have simply been waiting years to play this game, however for reasons unknown to me, Watermelon has not sold the carts for this game for quite some time. Makes absolutely no sense to me, considering there is still demand for this game. It would be one thing to try to play this game on a flash cart if they were still selling it, but they aren't. If they still sold the carts I would GLADLY fork over the money for it, but as it stands now I cannot get my hands on a legit cart, and I simply refuse to play via emulation or pay ridiculous Ebay prices, and so I am left with no choice but to try to find a way to play it on a Mega Everdrive. The gaming community should be able to enjoy this game, and it is such a shame that we don't get to simply because the company who made it won't sell more carts.
That being said, has anyone figured out a way to get the game working on the Mega Everdrive V7? it should support the ROM size, so I imagine it is possible. Please let me know, and I hope this is allowed. I just want to play the game some how, some way, as there is simply no way to get ahold of a real cart for an affordable price these days...
I bought my copy of this game for Sega Genesis from Watermelon in November 2016. It has not been out of production at all. They still actively sell carts.
This is just a whiny, low effort post. Krikzz is not going to support piracy of this game on the Everdrive.

Take a q-tip and some 99% isopropyl alcohol to those pins and get them cleaned up. They look nasty and could be the source of the problem.

The slowdown and flickering is normal for the NES. I'm assuming you did not play when the console was new, to know that - or haven't played recently enough to remember it.
When there are multiple sprites there has always been slowdown and flickering. It's not the Everdrive. Those are NES operational limitations. It can only display so many sprites on each line, and when the limit is exceeded you get flickering.
It can only do so much on the screen without slowdown. You see the same kind of slowdown in modern games when the graphics processing (framerates) can't keep up with what's on the screen.

Then you need to reach out to whoever did your mod work and let them troubleshoot how to fix the problem for you. I don't have any issues with mine, so maybe they need to recheck their work or fix something.
