Replacement mini x5 is working OK on couple of different consoles I've tested.
For what it's worth the PCB revision and casing look identical on both.
Happy now =]

I got my replacement cart today - I am going to test with the rom 'AGS Aging Cartridge' overnight before deciding everything is OK.
Appreciate the replacement =]

Thanks for the information =]

How many?

Sorry, but how many what?

Three so far
maybe more to come
not much else going on here anyway to be fair

I have same issue - red screen more often than not :/
Very disappointing :(

OK thanks for that.
I've sold dozens and modded/repaired hundreds of pc engines over the last 10 years, if anyone has had any problem I've always resolved.

I did this mod and I stand behind my work - is there any question as to the quality of the video output?
@ smokemonster - the RGB amp is on the top of the PCB, you can't recognise it fort what it is?
@Mobiusstriptech - electrically there is no difference between tapping off RGBS at the extension bus or the IC you are the one full of 'nonsense' :p

You have eliminated the following in your testing as they are not present or you have tried various with standard hucards working OK;
RGB mod
Region mod
Peripheral connected to ext bus

So that leaves;
MSD card

I would say that I have have had no issues with a 2.4 TBED in various set ups, with the exception of SGX - when I use in SGX the console crashes consistently, I get no fault with original hucards, SCD attached or SSDS3 tho which suggests to me TBED incompatibility or insertion error...

If you used the wrong polarity, the console will not start, and will actually blow an internal fuse that will need to be soldered in.

This is not true - if you try to power with a center positive DC in tolerance voltage there is diode preventing damage to the console, you can try it out.
An out of tolerance (>12VDC) or AC supply is likely to blow the fuse or cause damage tho

Any RGB mod will not affect the TBED operation as they typically are connected via the ext bus or off the 6260 direct.
Region mods can/do affect TBED operation as they connect to the hucard pins but has that mod been done?

I think msd card probs are most likely, especially if real hucards work OK

>I checked the supply and confirmed via multimeter. It was pumping out 9.3v with a + center

So you got sold a PCE from fleabay supplied with the PSU DC voltage inverted? How did you get this far then it wouldn't have powered up? Why didn't you return it to the seller when it didn't power up?

PCE white is center negative, same tip and polarity as MD1 and SFC

Original capacitors are OK on white & core grafx pc engines the target console for this ODE so that is not a concern.
True duos, ld pacs and gts *need* the stock caps replaced tho.
Check YAJ you can get a base console cheap still there are tons of them =]

Just wondering it feels like an entreaty already. They said it was possible from the start. Thats why I spent the extra cash for this. They gotta figure this out soon I hope. Or someone find a way to patch the roms to use the special chips the sd2snes has or something instead.

Gotta say all the posts of yours I've read are bullshit.
Stop whining and go and buy the real games if you have to have them so bad :/
