Title: Everdrive GBA OS update v1.10
Post by: KRIKzz on September 03, 2016, 01:48 AM
V1.10
03.09.2016
1)Emulation support for NES and GB/GBC games. Required third party emulators (PocketNES and Goomba)
Now any nes or gb/gbc games starts right from menu, like regular gba ROMs.
Emulators download link: http://www.dwedit.org/gba/
Jusr drop goomba.gba and pocketnes.gba into GBASYS folder, now you can play gb, gbc and nes games!
2)Hide GBASYS option
3)Rom setting option: individual save and rtc settings for each ROM.

Thanks Krikzz. Is there any chance of fds emulation?
Only if some fds emulators for gba exists

Great work, Krikzz!

Very good now don't is necessary insert patch in roms! And the saves for emulator is working fine.

It would be cool if you could put support for another famous emulator of Master System and Game Gear, the SMS Advance.

Thanks!

Oh, for Famicom Disk System, have the HCVA emulator. But this is very dissimilar from the standards of others emulators (Goomba, Pocket NES and SMS Advance).

Thanks! Awesome update, brother!

Questions. What's new with bootloader 1.04? Also, will the other ED's have or will have a "Hide System Folder" option?

All bootloader updates is for sd compatibility. May be will implement hide system folder option and for other carts

Wow KRIKzz, the EverdriveGBA purchase was really worth it. I must commend you on your level of service, it's really something. Awesome update, great to see emulation support. I just patched the entire No-Intro romset for GB and GBC yesterday to work with Goomba but was missing the save functionality.

Thanks!

I suppose Krikzz just made some competition for his own product. Still, awesome!

I have a GB Everdrive and still think its the best device for the original GB - I hope others will continue to buy it as well to play on the original hardware rather than only play GB on the GBA. Krikzz has helped out so much, the least we can do is support him.

Wow! NES emulation makes me want to order one of these sooner than later! I was going to wait till November but now I'm moving my order up!

I agree with this comment. The whole point of an Everdrive is to play real games on real hardware - the way they were meant to be played. This is why it's so surprising to have emulation support in an Everdrive. Has this been done before with a Krikzz product?

This look like emulation but is not, there is real Master System hardware inside of a Genesis, the power base converter for example is just a pass-through port. And to play 32X games with a everdrive you still need a 32x, is not emulation!

Wow! NES support! Won't be long until SNES joins the fray. I'll have the RTC supported Gameboy games on this Drive, while the other Gameboy games can be at home in my GB Everdrive.

I just got my GBA ED in the mail today. I'm soo stoked to try everything out. The support for emulators is a huge bonus! Looks like I'll start carrying my AGS-101 on me.

Would be great if Krikzz could work with Dwedit to get more out of the emulation:

You can't emulate SNES in the GBA.
Title: Re: Everdrive GBA OS update v1.10

You can't emulate SNES in the GBA.

That is incorrect, you can emulate (but a little poorly) NeoGeoPocket & Color, PCE and SNES
look for NGPAdvance , PCEAdvance and SNESAdvance
afaik the ROMS are "prepared" to run on GBA (they are gba files) you don't load them as you would for the rest of the supported emulators from the original ROM (I believe the emulator may actually be embedded with each game/compilation). Don't expect too much, usually lacks of music, slowdown, some palette issue etc.... but in kind of works.

The SmokeMonster GBA pack and in specific the "EverDrive GBA Game Series Collection by Tjstogy Add-On 2017-10-31" (or a more recent one I presume) contains all that you need!!!

Probably because you can already play them using your Everdrive GB flashcart and  emulation on those emulators is very inaccurate. So, he's not wrong. It's better to emulate on more powerful systems, like the Wii for instance.

Pokemon Prism will be completely unplayable if get rid of your Everdrive GB, due to extremely poor emulation.

Except Pokemon, which gb / nes games have been reported as poorly or inaccuratly emulated on the gba ?

With Goomba Color? Well, many graphic-intensive GBC games run at 40-50fps, for example (Shantae, Every Witch Wendy (or what is called), Alone in the Dark, Fish Files, Rayman 2, Pokemon Crystal etc...). It's a noble emulator, but still a decade-old emulator that runs on an two-decades old ARM with just 17MHz of clock. Just for comparison, the GP32, which was sold during GBA lifetime, was an handled with an 166MHz ARM, and neither it could run an accurate GB emulator.

And let us nto talk about the SGB support, which is my primary way to play Game Boy games. Goomba Color just look for the first border it finds in the rom, without any other form of enhancement.

So its mainly a prob with the gbc & sgb games, it works perfectly for the black & white gb and nes games ?

Obviously the only "perfect" GB emulator could only be a cycle-accurate (Gambatte? Sameboy?), and that need like at least 1GHz of clock speed. With 17MHz you need speedhacks after speedhacks, you can imagine. Goomba Color is serviceable. Obviously, since you are on a flashcart forum, I think you aim for perfection, since with the price of an Everdrive you can afford a Raspberry Pi and emulate basically anything.

Nes needs even more accuracy, there isn't a cycle-accurate Nes emulator even on PC right now.
