I wish there was a Patreon as well, he deserves as much support as possible.

So this update is the one to get now. anyone find any bugs that will get in my way. I have the fx firmware v10 and it's good. seems this one has the other fixes also.

I've had zero issues at all, it's safe to update.

I must express huge thanks and also congrats to RedGuy and also Ikari, playing Star Fox and Star Fox 2 with the fast option truly makes the game playable, they're fluid and fun!

damn I love my SD2SNES!

Played some Star Fox and Yoshi's Island this morning, they play beautifully as far as I can tell.  Awesome work!

I played Star Fox and i got an issue on the ending. While the staff credits are rolling up the gfx gets out of sync with the song that is playing. On the original cart that i have the song ends exactly after the words THE END finishes its transition.

I'm using the no-intro rom: "Star Fox (USA) (Rev 2).sfc".

That's a knows timing issue.
The "name zooming" effect in the end credit sequence of StarFox is extremely heavy on the GSU (SuperFX) chip (yes the real one too) so the timing goes off by a few seconds over 3+ minutes of the end credits.

Same thing with Snes9x btw, it is not perfect either.
In fact Snes9x has the end credits lag MORE than on the SD2SNES.

Perfect timing is VERY hard to reach with emulation or on FPGA.
What Kevtris did with the SuperNT is far beyond simple, and does not apply to the special chips implementation of the SD2SNES.

The US version of Doom doesn't seem to work at all (the JP and EU versions works fine).

Is anyone having issues with there custom menu with this firmware? My theme shows up but the main menu text is scrambled.

How come there's no cheat menu? I thought a cheat menu was in the works for 1.80 :(

Also I'd like to see a possible Super FX overclock option if possible, that'd be awesome.

I've overclocked two physical Super FX games myself with 27MHz crystal oscillators, DOOM and Vortex, although Vortex with its Super FX 1 chip can only utilize up to 13.5mhz from the crystal. DOOM on the other hand runs fantastic with the 27mhz overclock, getting rid of the horrid input lag it suffers from.

There already IS an overclock option ;) ... under 'Main Menu' -> 'Configuration' -> 'Chip Options' -> 'SuperFX Speed'...

Oh wow awesome! Thank you!

So all the Super FX games I've tried all run fantastic with the chip speed set to fast, like night and day difference. If I had to guess, seems that the fast option sets the clock speed to 15MHz for games that used the Super FX 1, and 30MHz for the Super FX 2. On actual carts, the crystal oscillators' speeds were split in half with the Super FX 1. Although it's possible that it could be at 30MHz for both on the SD2SNES.
So to give an idea of how much of a boost there is with the fast option turned on, the stock speed for Super FX 1 games is 10.7MHz and for Super FX 2 games it's 21.4MHz.

Btw, I've noticed that sometimes a Super FX game won't boot up initially with the fast option turned on and will show a glitched screen. Resetting once usually makes it start up but when this happens you won't be able to reset back to the menu to save certain Super FX games such as Stunt Race FX. My recommendation is to switch the SNES power off and on until the game runs on the first try which usually only needs to be done once.

I have the same issue with normal speed. This doesn't happen on v10 firmware. (PAL SNES with SuperCIC MOD, official SD2SNES)

Saluti Arnold101.
Why is that your signature?  ahh I don't care.. anyway.. to help you:

Yes, it is a shortcut.
You pause the game and press SELECT to go back to map.
Only works in levels you've passed.

Well this is just amazing, everything worked 1st go on my SFC with hooks turned on and the SFX set to fast. Seeing doom working on a flash cart blew my mind.

It's a bug. I fixed it in the meantime: https://github.com/mrehkopf/sd2snes/commit/872300caa4a4608c29c867c9d97f7df80573f9eb
I'm going to release 1.8.1 shortly with some smaller feature changes.
Cheat menu is still in the works (or rather, suffering from severe coder's block).
I decided it would make more sense to do an official SuperFX release more quickly. ;)
