EverDrive GBA / Re: Everdrive upgrade program?
« on: May 30, 2020, 07:54 AM »
Is there an upgrade program for ones that bought the X5 to Mini?

Sarcastic comments aside, Stone Age Gamer usually has upgrade programs when an everdrive version becomes obsolete. Follow them on twitter to check when/if it will happen. They also have a discord you can join.

Cool cases indeed. I threw the towel and bought a MODE instead, as it does everything I expected of the Satiator, plus it also works with Dreamcast so I also bough a Dreamcast.

It may be pricey at $200 euros (185 + shipping), but it certainly gives you a lot of value.

I wish good fortune to those who continue waiting for the Satiator. I may even still get one next year if my situation improves (if its even out by then :P).

The codes are for RGB mod with deblur in mind :)
I play only with RGB mod.
But it looks not bad on Composite too.
Also for Everdrive you only need to copy and paste everything in the cheatfile for this game

how do you know which ones are worth activating? is there a google docs somewhere?

Can we also make a list of which games actually look better and which look worse? I want to be able to apply these codes to as many roms as possible, but I don't have time to experiment.

EverDrive 64 / Re: [release] alternative ED64 Menu
« on: February 28, 2020, 10:52 PM »
I would love to use this menu i just have no idea what im doing

i have the Everdrive 64 V3

Cybapunk#2521

if someone wants to help me on discord

saturnu's alt menu was designed for v2.5 everdrive I think. You can use this one for v3: https://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=6966.0

TBH, I tried using it and it felt unpolished, unfinished, missing a few key features and QoL stuff that the original has.

LOL!  Tough to keep up the hype, when there's been zero inclination of an ETA.  I'm hoping this summer but not counting on it.  In comparison, PSIO was sold a few years ago with it being fairly compatible and all features working.  Since they, they've made continual firmware fixes after user testing.  There's so many damn games there's no way to test them all in Beta.  Problems will come up.  I'm not sure what the Prof's threshold is though.

:( I really want to preorder, no matter how long it takes. My PSIO preorder in june 2017 shipped on september 2018. That is how bad I want my ODEs.

As for the comparison, to be fair, considering that the PSIO started selling in december 2015, after being worked on for 5 years (as per their FAQ), and only few people were able to get their hands on it until recently. very small batches. If prof. abrasive manages to make better production quantities, I'd say they fared better.

In any case, for those who don't wish to wait, there's the fenrir. I'm going to wait, I don't have any nostalgia for the Saturn which makes it easier for me.

Off Topic / Re: MSX pack
« on: February 18, 2020, 01:22 AM »
I don't think there is any fullsets at all for MSX. The only ones I know are the no-intro and Mame's Software-List-roms set (which also includes disks and tapes) and both looks too small to be complete.

I found a tool that can be used to combine the disks for usage with the MISTer MSX core. I might even attempt to make a full list myself.

FXPAK (SD2SNES) / Re: Ganbare Goemon 3 Controversial Translation Patch
« on: February 15, 2020, 02:59 AM »
the shame is that i was hoping that since they done 2 and 3 that they might get around to translating the 4th game in the series but that probably will not happen now due to this fiasco :(
i don't understand what the big deal was here. all that the translator did was to translate what was already in the original game and he also included a variation patch with a non slur version so people who may get offended can use the non slur one.
it's not like the accurate version which contains the slur is the opinion of the translator in any way. if people are so outraged by this why not contact the people who made the game just to get nowhere.
this is just stupid like when tv channels refuse to rerun old shows with offensive content. those shows are a product of the time and should not be judged by todays standards. if you don't like it don't watch or play it.

The worst part for me is that Tom and DDStranslations spent THOUSANDS of hours working their asses off to give these translations to the entire community for FREE. And all these self-righteous, self-entitled haters from CancerEra still felt like the guy deserved tons of harassment for translating a word. I retweeted at least 10 trans people on twitter who said they didn't give a shit... so who are they virtue signaling to? what have they given to the community? grief?

I can't wrap my head around this. It was free. Thousands of hours of their lives given away for free, and they get crap for it.  I'm so bummed now.

Try this one: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1bXXRBpZbEXyqqspL5lR4m9po3-1XGDUT/view

Thank you! who knows what kind of harassment they kept receiving to have to close their twitter accounts and make a final patch de-slurred.

What's next? are we rewriting history books, novels, newspapers, movies?

Off Topic / MSX pack

This is a longshot but here we go..

does anyone know of an MSX fullset (including romhacks and translations) that have all disk image games combined into a single disk? I would definitely want to avoid doing one by one by myself.

Alternately, a tool that can mass combine disk image sets inside a folder.

Any help is appreciated, please share via DM as I don't want links to be public in the forum for obvious reasons.

There was also a stream on Sunday night made by emerald nova games, testing out games with the newest firmware, all previous issues were fixed. There was only like 3-4 of us so he was taking requests. I asked for 3 games and he tested them all. It's looking really good.

Here it is, found it on the post "features and unfeatures" from January 4:

“The loading times are identical to real hardware because it paces the sectors out the same as a real drive for compatibility reasons. Some titles will depend on the exact CD drive timing and the Saturn's CD Block itself can only handle a certain data rate, so while I may implement a turbo mode in the future, it will be a configurable option rather than on by default.

This also means that the choice of SD card is not critical - it only reads at a few hundred kB/s. As long as your card isn't actually faulty (fake capacity or bad sectors) then the Satiator is not picky.“

Here is the first recorded playthrough for those interested :

https://www.thatsitguys.com/articles/sega-saturn-satiator-beta-tested

It looks like the fw is on a very early stage and comes with quite a few visible bugs. The pretty UI hasn't been insterted yet. Other than that it's all looking good. Hopefully he'll come up with a better retail strategy.

The main problem so far appears to be FMV skipping. Some games seem to play videos correctly, but that might be due to lower FPS. If it's caused by a bandwidth limitation on the Video CD interface, that would be a HUGE setback for this project. Let's just hope it can be fixed in a future firmware upgrade, because I really like the plug and play versatility of the Satiator over the (impossible to get) ODE internal cards...

Not a bandwidth problem for 2 reasons:

1. It only happens on certain games.

2. Prof. Abrasive had already spoken on the subject of bandwidth, and mentioned there's much more than needed.

Long-time fan of EverDrive and krikzz's products. I will say, the user registration is a tad tedious...

Anyways, beta testing for Satiator has begun. Thus far, it's a solid product. I'd imagine some reviews will be out shortly.
