EverDrive N8 / Re: EverDrive-N8 PRO bug reports.
« on: May 13, 2020, 12:51 AM »
StarTropics (USA) with the music fix patch does not work on the N8 Pro. Works fine on the original N8. On the Pro you get no sound at all.
The name entry screen doesn't work correctly either. After you enter your name then press End it returns to the main screen but didn't save your name. Again, this works correctly on the original N8

@Krikzz could you please take a look?
Thanks

Still no news on SPC7110?

Ok so for me the issue happens on two 32x CD games: 1) Night Trap and 2) Surgical Strike. Fahrenheit and Corpse Killer both work correctly. No idea why they don't work. Again, if I unplug the Mega ED they boot just fine

I got my 32X today and I found an odd issue with Surgical Strike 32X, and possibly all Sega CD 32X games, where if I used the BIOS image I use for my Sega CD games (which all work fine) to load up Surgical Strike 32X, I get a black screen and the game won't load.  However, if I remove the Mega Everdrive x7, the game boots up without an issue.

Is this a known issue and does there happen to be a workaround?  It's not a big problem un-slotting the MED but I wouldn't mind fixing it if there is a solution out there.  Or do I need to use a specific 32X BIOS image instead?

Thanks!

--------------

I'm not sure, as I haven't used Everdrive to boot Sega CD 32X games yet with the bios, I'll need to test it someday to get one in the PAL version, but there may be some problem with addressing between the 32X and the Mega Drive / Sega CD, I realized that some games do not even come with the 32X attached to the mega, Virtual Racing, that UMKT hack, and there were also other games that I should have listed, when I have the problem again I will start to write down their names and create a list, Pier Solar even has some ROMS that they didn't load with my 32X attached to the mega.

Another interesting thing is also that I have the game Fahrenheit, and it only starts with the 32X on, the version of the Sega CD emits 3 noises and crashes before booting, but accepts the change to the 32X version, you will understand, I have not tried boot it with the mega everdrive X7 yet, but either way, if games come without Everdrive X7, that's why it's all right! because if I didn’t get in there, it could be some bad contact problem or even in the 32X.
Thanks for the response. I will test Fahrenheit 32x CD as well. Right now it seems there is a definite incompatibility between Mega ED and 32x CD

Bumping an old thread here but I am experiencing the same issue with any 32x CD game. The only way to run it is to remove the Mega ED. @KRIKzz is this a known issue? If not, could you please take a look? Thanks

EverDrive GG / Re: Everdrive GG x7 compatibility

I was just noticing that the X7 uses the exact same OS as the previous model. Given that, I highly doubt there is any difference at all in game compatibility. Looks like it’s just a newer/faster FPGA. Nothing more. This is probably why KRIKzz has remained silent.

@krikzz: Any word on this? Does Shining Force: Final Conflict save, and does Gunstar Heroes work?

Thanks!
Looks like we’re gonna have to wait until someone actually purchases it to find out

I opened a ticket requesting clarification on both points. No response. To me this is our answer. No change in compatibility for the new rev which, for me, means no sale.

Does it support Gunstar Heroes (J) ? Can't find a simple answer anywhere!
Thanks
The lack of response from KRIKzz makes me suspect that Gunstar and Shining Force still don’t work right with the new rev

@KRIKzz could you please let us know if this revision allows saving in Shining Force and if Gunstar Heroes works?

Yep. I'm not spending the money until I know for sure.

Mega EverDrive / Re: X7/V2 not loading Virtua Racing with OS V3.12
« on: January 23, 2020, 03:53 AM »
Not really related to Virtua Racing although I can confirm the rom works flawlessly on my original PAL Mega Drive model 1 using the latest 3.13 firmware for my Mega EverDrive X 7, haven't tested yet on my Mega SG but from reading the comments on here it seems I need to update mine to 4.7 firmware and that's what I wanted to mention on here.

I know from experience that the Analogue Mega SG 4.7 firmware in general is not as good as 4.6. 4.7 has a tear in the frame rate every 7 seconds in 50Hz and 13 seconds in 60Hz on Master System games only and this is when you're using the (zero delay, zero lag option). Don't believe me? Boot up Sonic 1 SMS play until you reach the second level, jump down the pit, get the shield and just stand there idle, you'll notice a judder/slight pause every few seconds when staring at the shield and Sonic's frames going in and out of each other. I've reported this to the Analogue team and until it gets fixed i'm sticking to 4.6 firmware. The whole reason anybody buys a Mega SG is to play it perfectly on a modern HD TV without any lag or judders and what do you get on 4.7 firmware? Judders also known as tearing. It might seem like a minor problem for alot of you but I can't stand judders, when you spend nearly $500 dollars Australian on a digital Mega Drive made for modern equipment you'd expect nothing but perfection, I know it's not the console, it's the firmware because I went back to 4.6 because of this and the tearing/judder frame issue was gone! Master System games ran smoothly again.

So on 4.6 you get smoother gameplay but Chuck Rock CD and Virtua Racing using Krikzz's latest Mega EverDrive X7 firmware update don't work. On 4.7 you get Chuck Rock CD and Virtua Racing working but a frame rate judder on SMS games every 7 or 13 seconds (depending on what refresh rate you're using). Me personally, i'd rather sacrifice two games not working properly and play everything else smoothly than to have the latest firmware and to have those two games working but a bumpy frame rate for SMS games.

I just wanted to put it out there, since the Analogue Mega SG is somewhat relevant in this topic on Virtua Racing. Not whinging either and Krikzz doesn't have to do anything since it's not his problem.

I'm just hoping Analogue's 4.8 fixes this issue.
How do you know they will release a 4.8 firmware? Has it been announced?

Not working on my CDX either. All I get is a blank screen and this is using the patch. Please investigate KRIKzz.
SVP needs more development time. Thanks

Weird, works fine on my cdx
Any suggestions or ideas then? Is your cart connected via a 32x? Mine is

EDIT: It works on my Genesis 2 but not my CDX. Need your help to figure this out KRIKzz. Either there is an incompatibility with certain revs of CDX or it doesn't work with a 32x connected. My CDX has no other issues so it isn't the hardware
Sega Genesis Virtua Racing is not compatible with 32X addon
Thank you Lee! My bad. I did not realize that
