Joyzz / Re: Future Wireless Controllers?
« on: July 20, 2018, 06:38 PM »
Will extra shells be sold? These poor AVS wireless controller owners could use an alternative shell for swapping guts.

Here's what I think about some other common options. AVS wireless controller pairs excellent, plays well but dat janky mold squeaks (lower-left handle). 8bitdo SFC...I have the one that launched with the SuperNT. Its awful-performing d-pad design cripples this sob which is a shame because I'm completely satisfied with the controller otherwise. Thinking about picking up a Krikzz wireless controller soon...

Turbo EverDrive / Re: v2.4 SuperGrafx Glitches
« on: March 30, 2018, 01:08 AM »
Just got an unmodded Supergrafx. I also own a TED v2.4.

I've been trying out some SGX games from SM's pack:

- Aldynes works as expected as far as I can tell.

- Daimakaimura (ghouls n ghosts) is good up until about 30 seconds into level 1. Glitches and game crashes.

Update: Ghouls n Ghosts still crashes 20 seconds into level 1 after a bunch of card reseatings.

I hope so. We need an Everdrive DS.

Don't care to buy all those Chinese flash carts.

EverDrive N8 / Re: Nes (72-pin) to Famicom (60-pin) converter mod
« on: March 29, 2018, 07:43 AM »
I just did this mod to my eBay 72-to-60-pin adapter with shell. My console is a jp AV famicom.

Had a lot of troubleshooting and re-soldering (I do own a Hakko FR-300 desoldering iron  ;D ) until eureka, but it was nice to finally hear the famicom expansion audio games sound just right to-my-ears after the mod.

I first experimented by installing two 56k ohm resistors. I got visuals but mute audio and silent black screens. I re-soldered the wires and 56k resistors twice.  I then tried two 15k ohm resistors in parallel. Desoldering irons that have vacuums are a bless'n.

The audio sounds balanced enough for my liking. The VRC7 audio balance is excellent. I use an Everdrive NES N8 and its most current VRC7 mapper. VRC6 sounds off-balance, but I think one of you guys posted a series of VRC6 mappers where you can swap out different VRC6 volume versions. Gimmick jp sounds well-balanced and great. Castlevania III NES looks and sounds great.  No flickering black lines or graphical glitches.

Can't wait till the 3DS naturally comes to an end and wish Krikzz will come out with a DS family of Everdrives to rule them all! ;D

EverDrive GB / [Solved] GB X7 power consumption
« on: November 22, 2017, 06:56 AM »
More of a Krikzz question I guess if he so happens to see this...

How much more efficient is the power consumption of the X7 compared with the original GB Everdrive?

Will the X7 be 'noticeably' more efficient when used in a gameboy pocket?

The original GB works fine in my GBP, just have to turn the sound and contrast of the screen down all the way while the game flashes. The other features are what I'm interested in, but more battery life would also be a good thing!

Thank you :)

Mega Man 3 (USA) is the only game I'm getting this black flickering lines issue (Top Man's Stage).

Looks similar to the white line issue except well black and much more erratic. I know Krikzz fixed a bunch of his mappers in the OS16 update. I'm playing Mega Man 3 from an Everdrive NES N8 (directly from Krikzz) with OS v16 on my AVS with OS v1.20b8.

Thread of the issue cross-referenced from NintendoAge (skip to 0:35 of the video):

Seems the OP updated his Everdrive OS and the black lines went away but still has issues with Mega Man 3 like me.

FXPAK (SD2SNES) / Re: Removing lockout tabs and the SD2SNES:

Or maybe it depends on how much plastic is left over after removing the tabs. I took time to remove mine so that the two sections are flush versus being carefree and having 1-2mm plastic leftover where the tabs once were.

Edit: On second thought, I don't think that makes any sense  :-[

Same. It doesn't bother me too much, but I'd imagine lining/shimming either 1) inside the SNES' cartridge bay or 2) bottom of the SD2SNES shell with a strip of single-sided foam tape would fix that?

Mega EverDrive / Re: wily wars saving issues
« on: July 14, 2017, 11:14 PM »
Have the same issue with Mega ED X7 v2. I've tried all the different rom versions in Smoke's compilation (JP unpatched, EUR unpatched, JP EN translated, SRAM-patched, etc) and none of them hold a save.

Maybe we're doing it wrong?

Sweeeeet!  ;D

Happens to me too on same setup and adaptor. The graphics start progressively becoming artifact-ridden after a few minutes until the game freezes. Makes me regret not getting a Famicom N8 w/ adaptor and just switch out the shells for when you want to play on a NES.
