I didn't know of the compatibility issues until after. When I first got it the very first game I launched was Zaxxon which of all the sg-1000 games still has a color palette bug which brought me back to this forum to see what was up.

Then I come across multiple posts in the GG section where bugs just like the Zaxxon were literally acknowledged by Krikzz and left to "being looked at."
http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=2793.msg52479#msg52479 see for yourself none of those games were fixed. Some like Asterix have some sort of workaround but it's via pm only and was never published so it's not really a fix.

There's plenty of threads in the GG sub-forum like this and yes, X7 will likely fix the bugs as the SMS X7 fixed the lingering bugs from the older version which guess what... never got the fixes back-ported!

Friend on discord today just bemoaned as well since he bought an Everdrive 64 v3 3 weeks ago only to find out that there's now an X7. Three weeks.

It's just insulting at this point to expect any software support. Warranty service is great as always but krikzz your method of announcing hardware and software road maps needs some serious work. I know I can't be the only purchaser of an Everdrive product to have this happen to them and it's old.

I disagree there. He's releasing the X7 at some point when he fixes his shell problem.

He released an updated pcb to an abandoned product and from what it looks like all outstanding bugs are to remain only to be fixed on the X7. This will be the third time I've had this happen with krikzz products and quite frankly I'm tired of it. The communication on upcoming products is a joke and it's pretty insulting to buy a product with problems that were acknowledged up to 4 years ago and never addressed. The expectation that you're to buy the X7 when it comes out to fix these issues is a joke.

Guess the silence confirms it then. I'd have words to say but they're not worth it as it seems my time isn't worth it to krikzz. God speed on your future products, I'm signing out.

EverDrive GG / Re: Everdrive GG 1.3?

Ah, krikzz'd again. I give up trying to figure out his roadmap, I can't count the number of times this has happened. At least there are other players in the flash cart field now that have a little more professionalism.

Cross-posting as it appears nobody bothers to go in the game gear subforum:

Received the redesign in the mail from SAG today and was looking over the pcb to see what changed between v1.2 and 1.3. The only difference I can see BOM-wise is that the flash rom has been upgraded from 16mbit to 64mbit. Does this mean you can make larger roms or is it just due to EOL part availability and 8mbit is still the limit?

Furthermore clicking around in this sub-forum what is going on with the os? 0 reply other than "we're aware of it!" for 4 years now on SG-1000, Micro Machines 2/Asterix being bugged as well as other various bugs. 0 firmware updates since 2017. What's up with this cart?

I see that the SMS Everdrive had a complete redesign and is now "X7" and the legacy product is gone. Are you doing the same thing with GG and did I just buy an abandoned redesign or what? You haven't been very forthcoming with GG support or plans for the firmware that has been left stagnant.

Master EverDrive / Re: How to OS Update without display?
« on: August 02, 2016, 01:22 AM »
Well through loading only the os update as os-v5.sms and os-v5.mso and blindly bashing buttons I eventually got it to downgrade. Guess this can be considered resolved.

Master EverDrive / How to OS Update without display?
« on: August 02, 2016, 12:48 AM »
I have a Sega Mark III and recently purchased a Master Everdrive with an adapter to use with it. I see on these forums that os_v8 does not work on the Mark III and I need to downgrade to v5. Problem is it seems this device is already on v8 and I cannot get a display on my tv to downgrade this thing. Help?

EverDrive GB / Pokemon Crystal RTC and EDGB
« on: August 15, 2015, 10:13 PM »
So yeah, no RTC, blows. However there's a really handy patch better than the one people in here found
http://bubbz.pocketheaven.com/?system=gbc&section=patch_info&patch_id=727

This lets you adjust the clock via Pokégear by using the up/down arrows. Once you exit your Pokégear the time is updated. Definitely the best RTC patch for EDGB

Even better this works fine with Pokemon Crystal Emu 1.3b

Unfortunately I cannot attach the patch to this post in case the site goes away.

EverDrive N8 / Re: HDMI HidefNES Board Incompatibility
« on: July 15, 2015, 07:12 PM »
I'm not savvy on the tech stuff, but am I reading that right that his HDMI setup forces the Famicom/NES to run out of spec, but then he's blaming the Everdrive for causing the incompatibility?

Based off the nesdev post the everdrive n8 is using M2 - cpu pin 31 to check when the cpu is ready for bus data. This is not very friendly with the modified timing of the HDMI modification as well as a few CPU/PPU revisions which causes issues with mappers. Sometimes M2 claims it is ready when it isn't causing false reads and corrupted memory.

OK, but does the EDN8 have any compatibility issues with the NESRGB mod? I've only got one AV Fami and it's in super condition so I'm not modding it. But I might snag another less pampered one to futz with sometime, so I've been thinking about going ahead and buying the NESRGB kit for future use. But I've been watching the kevtris HDMI situation because it really looks like a superior solution vs. using the RGB board with an upscaler (i.e. Framemeister).

If the N8 works on your NES/Famicom before adding in a NESRGB it will be fine. The problem is that some cpu revisions have M2 lines that send out invalid high/low levels and cause the memory loading to get corrupted. The problem with the HDMI mod is that it clocks entirely differently and just enough to screw up the N8. I use a Famicom N8 just fine in my NESRGB AV Famicom through a Framemeister. Honestly I like it more than the HDMI solution because it has extremely good display zooming which lets you scan the tiles on the border out and not see the random garbage on some games.

Off Topic / Re: Sega Saturn - SD CARD - Hd Loader - Saroo
« on: July 05, 2015, 09:25 PM »
Sorry about the thread necromancy but this was the best thread to post in. Looks like China has open-sourced Saroo. Would love to see what krikzz has to say about the code and if it looks legitimate. Appears schematics are in HW/ssmaster.pdf

https://github.com/tpunix/SAROO

Clicking around in the source it looks like the device is extremely beta right now. It can only load Langrisser 3 via hard-coded location on a sd card.

Are there any plans to address expansion audio correctness in the next N8 update?

EverDrive N8 / Re: 72 to 60 pin adapter sound chip emulation issue
« on: April 13, 2015, 10:01 PM »
I got bored the other night and was checking out viletim's newer famicom installation method and realized that this mod will not work for a N8

http://etim.net.au/nesrgb/installation-famicom/

He has a rebuilt sound circuit for the famicom and a different resistor array specifically for the N8 that can be activated via a switch on the newer power board. You might want to try emailing viletim to see if he knows the proper values but the 10k resistors will likely not give you the right sound with the N8.

Edit: and now that I got my INL Kazzo in the mail so I could flash the right Gimmick rom on I found the resistors were flipped backwards. 10K ohm from pin 54 on NES side to pin 46 Famicom. 10k ohm from pin 45 on Famicom to 46 on Famicom. Man Gimmick sounds AMAZING!
