EverDrive GBA / Re: Everdrive GBA x5 mini
« on: January 21, 2021, 07:26 AM »
Hey there, I have been trying everything I can find on Goomba not working on my Everdrive GBA mini x5. Any advice? I have renamed, redownload, reformatted and even tried a different sd card. I get the message "emulator not found gbasys/emu/gb.gba". I am not the most tech savvy and would really appreciate any help so I will be able to play GB and GBC games. Thank you.

Get goomba.gba rename it to gb.gba and place in thst folder

I don't think goomba ever did that for G/S/C though I remember playing C on the Super Card SD and it was all garbled up... am not sure if Goomba ever fixed that issue but some garbled games on Pocketnes got corrected however corrupted games that used to work on it so its a mix and match it seems.

Speaking of C it's unusual why Pokémon Prism worked fine as it was basically C all along?

Yes, you're right that goomba doesn't utilize the X5's battery for RTC for G/S/C. The latest version of goomba color does seems to run all three of them, including most rom hacks, quite well. The only issue is the "stuck" RTC.

There is no other gb/gbc emulator available for the gba hardware.

I see, thank you.

Pokemon Crystal will not never run on goomba

What? Color mixing on the NES? You mean color multiplexing?

GBC mode can show up to at least 32 colors and can generate as many different colors as SNES can (32768). That's not a problem.

A DMG however can only show up to 4 shades of pea soup.

nice good job

possible do for EBGB X ?

because the default colors is not my liking

I suspect it is possible to do this for the gameboy version, yeah. I don't have one yet, but I think I'll pick up an X3 at some point.

wouldnt it be pointless to have color on a monochrome device?

Alright it's happening again this time for Minish Cap. The default save mode is EEPROM and when I start a new game, first it says all save slots are corrupt then when I select a slot and enter a name it says it can't create a save and kicks me back to the menu.

faulty hardware or bad rom here is the checksums for clean no-intro dump

I'm strugging with pokemon GBA games not being able to save. They either complain that they can't save, or that the existing save is corrupt. I haven't found anything in search.

Also, a basic rundown of the save types and what they mean would be awesome! I have no idea what the differences are between EEPROM, SRAM, FLASH* are and I'm not having any success finding that info.

The database already knows the type from the header u don't as a user change anything

I backed up all my saves awhile back with a GB01 cart reader from Sub Module.  It wrote all the saves as .sav.  I just ordered an Everdrive Advance X5 and want to bring those saves over and just wondering if anyone has done that? Or can say what I need to do to get them working on the everdrive?

Thanks in advance!

if they r raw saves sure jsut name them acordingly to the save format each game uses .fla ect...

I actually own the original cart, but was playing on the Everdrive because I thought my save data would be safer, ironically enough...

thats still pirating

Great, so 100+ hours lost because the Everdrive overwrote a save file without asking me...

Yea the flashcart took revenge on u for pirating

Turned on my GBA the other night, but it came up with the "Internal battery has run dry" message.

Don't need the RTC for any game I'm currently playing, but when I tried to continue in an RPG (Super Robot Taisen R, .fla format save data), it wouldn't recognize my save data.

So I installed a new battery, but was still getting the "Internal battery has run dry" message, so I updated the firmware.  That seemed to fix the battery message issue, but my save data still won't load.

Backed up the save data file to my PC, started a new game, and confirmed that the new save data works.  Copied the old save data back to the ED, selected the old data in the GBASYS>Save folder then used "Copy file to RAM", but the game still doesn't recognize it. So did my save data file get corrupted somehow?  Will attach the save file if anyone wants to check it out.

Thank you in advance to anyone who can help.

if save was in ram then battery died its gone for good

I just mentioned in another thread, but I wouldn't mind at least a menu option to manually dump the save file.  Same w/ a RTC option so you wouldn't have to load into Boktai to check/set it.

never will happen

Why's that?  The cartridge is already capable of running a routine to dump the save ram to a file, so why would an option to manually run that never happen?

Because Krikzz will never add it
