My probes didn't reach into the sockets so I cut a paperclip in half and straightened both pieces.

I stuck one into the ground socket and one in a 3.3v socket and got 3.52v. Unplugged it and waited for the psu to discharge then tested the other 3.3v socket and got 3.52v again
Did the same thing and tested the 12v one and got 11v (or 11.1, can't remember)
The power supply seems fine.
Can you borrow another loose console or power supply to test?

Nope.. I'll try giving the n64 a good clean but I doubt it'll do anything. If it doesn't work I'll get a pre-rgb modded one I guess.

Set your multimeter to 20 V and plug the probes to the middle and right socket.
Again, if you're going to open up your power supply be very careful.

Obviously the Everdrive isn't the problem, it's either the console or power supply.
Do you have access to a multimeter?
Plug the power supply to the mains socket but not to the console and check the voltage between one of the minus pins and the 3.3V or 12V pins.

It could be easier if you open up the power supply to access the output pins, but you must be VERY CAREFUL.

Alright, I got one. What do I have to set my multimeter to ?

I don't but I'll get one ASAP. And I wasn't trying to blame the Everdrive, I just thought I'd ask here since people seem to have more experience with N64s than say, people on Reddit.

Not here. N64s go for 50-100€, original PSUs for 10-20€.

EverDrive 64 / Did my N64 die ?
« on: March 03, 2018, 07:25 PM »
I played with my N64 for about six months before I had to put it back in the box to move out. I decided to take it out again after moving about two weeks ago and it doesn't turn on anymore (no red light). I tried everything:

  • Switching between the Expansion and Jumper Paks
  • Using a SCART adapter instead of plugging the composite cables in directly
  • Opening up my ED64 to see if somehow got damaged while i was moving everything (doesn't seem to be the case)
  • Reseated the PSU
  • Power-cycling the machine
  • Trying different TVs and outlets
  • Opening both the machine and the PSU to look inside (doesn't seem to be any damage but i couldn't remove the huge metal shielding in the unit)

One thing to note is that sometimes (albeit rarely, happened 4-5 times total) the red light turns on for 2 seconds before turning off again.

Should I just buy another psu ? (3rd party or original on ebay ?) The system worked perfectly during those 6 months.

EverDrive 64 / Re: Is there a way to play GB/GBC games on the N64 ?
« on: October 02, 2017, 04:17 PM »
I already have a few machines that can emulate what I want although I wanted to use my N64 for NES and GBC emulation. NES emulation works almost perfectly (some games like Castlevania 3 don't boot up) and I just wanted a way to play GBC games as if I were using a SuperGB.

Don't have an NES but Neon64 emulates 90% of the games I want to play. I have a SuperGB for my SNES but GBC games don't look that good on it. I thought that I'd use the N64 to play GB/GBC games on it since the controller is really good.

Either by (working) emulators or by using the transfer pak ?

I got one from completeroms.. It didn't work. I've extracted them in on folder along with the neon64.rom file but it still doesn't work. Do I need to leave it zipped ? Or did I get the wrong one again ?

If I start them directly then they play but the colors are messed up since the included version of neon64 is NTSC-only.. Can I REPLACE that file with the newer one ? What do I need to replace ?

I got it to work. I made a backup of "emu.nes" then renamed the new Neon64 file to "emu.nes" and it worked.

EverDrive 64 / I can't get Neon64 (the one that saturnu linked) to work
« on: September 28, 2017, 01:11 AM »
So, I have a PAL N64 and an ED64 V3.. I was trying out the Neon64 release that saturnu linked in a couple threads. I downloaded a PAL Romset (from a torrent. It's extremely incomplete and shitty. If anyone has a COMPLETE PAL Romset for the NES then PM me), extracted it in a folder and put the NEON64BU.ROM file in the folder. Booted it up and selected the Neon64 ROM, used the C button to switch to PAL mode and pressed A.. It tells me something about the ROM not being in an INES format.. Here's a screenshot of the folder. (Had to download the Zelda 1 rom manually.. freaking romset didn't have it.. unbelievable) https://i.imgur.com/jItemLs.png

I'd love to play the Custom Robo games in English..

EDIT: Just noticed that there's some form of patch but I don't want to go through 10 pages of text.. Is it complete or not ?

EverDrive 64 / How do I play NTSC games on a PAL N64 + PAL TV ?
« on: September 01, 2017, 01:28 AM »
I'm having some problems running NTSC games on my unmodded PAL N64 and ED64 V3.

The games in question are Ogre Battle 64 and Harvest Moon 64. They boot up fine if I set the mode to M-PAL and the colors display just fine unlike NTSC HOWEVER I can see some weird lines flickering.. Is there a way to fix this ? I'm using a Samsung HDTV if that matters.
