EverDrive N8 / Re: Issue with HUD in certain games
« on: June 05, 2019, 03:29 AM »
I am using AV famicom. OS version 20 rc7 (last) ... sometimes there is jitter, sometimes not ... it is often seen when I format and reload a micro SD card (to supplement the library) and the first game launches are accompanied by jolting ... then they disappear. in any case, in version 16, I did not observe.

I will add the message:

1. on AV famicom (1993) - 5.11 volts stably, did not observe power surges. During the "reset" Console there are no artifacts, but a short dark background. Rarely shakes.
2. On the family name GPU-GPM-02 (1989) (simple AV mode) 4.95 volts  drop (example: loading of rum) up to 4.70v and artifacts are visible during the "reset". There are shaking at the levels of Ninja Gaiden 3.
But the sound is the purest.
3. On a very old CPU-07 (1984) drop to 4.60 volts. The stabilizer 8705 is very hot. Sometimes rom does not start (this also happens because of dirty contacts).
Shaking happens from the original cassette.
4. NES (pal-FRA) (1987) is similar, but with 50 FPS.

OEM. Theoretically, it can be a modern and very old product.
Therefore, it is not fully defined.
If this is a very old adapter: you should solder new electrolytes in  adapter, they can dry out.
About "wheel loader" is good. But you and I will have mistakes, given the shiver. Even the original Japanese console and the old original cassette can give the effect of the earthquake's lower boundary.
If you are not ready to perform surgery in the console, then just not modding or soldering in console and do not worry.
Or roll back the version to 16. But many games will no longer work with version 16.

This problem appeared on OS version 20.
often 3 and 4 mappers.
Reason: 5 volt source (power). it can fall to 4.70-4.90v.
everdrive has stabilizers for 3.3v, so that the chips would work.
if the voltage drops, it may fall below 3.3 volts.
RAM will malfunction and problems.
You can find old transformer adapters (Recommended 1 amp and above) or problems in the stabilizer inside the console (transistor 8705). I was helped on one console by replacing up to 2A.

Just want to say that
1. AV famicom such a problem, but rare.
2. On the old NES (pal), even original cartridges (super Mario brothers 3) can be shaking the bottom line.
3.I would like what is your console.

Thank you.
I have activated out the system of self-diagnostics. First, there will be a blue background.
after  A black background and text with the current test process.

It's important : when  "Init error" - do not do "reset"(Do not turn off the console, not to extract the cartridge), a insert the card when a the error message is displayed .
... After the insertion of memory in the slot, press all the buttons on Select / START / A / B / immediately.

EverDrive N8 / Re: Any way to run bigger ROM files?
« on: March 31, 2019, 06:31 AM »
Guess I have no choice but to run Pokemon Yellow NES and Final Fantasy VII NES on my NES Classic...

I hope krikzz will answer you ...
this topic is not new ...
maybe at the moment it is impossible and not even necessary ..
. there is also a reason why they don’t make "exclusive PRO builds" with an inflated price tag ... this is all Equal would mean creating a pcb from scratch ...
and for this you need drawings, a new code, and so on.

My opinion of is positive: 99% of games
(in this somewhere 1600 rom, among which are cool modern hacks, homebrew, translated into my language and so on ...)
are excellently played. I would also like advanced functionality ... for example, the powerPak memory is similar to 512k + 512k ...
but there is an opportunity to listen to the recording in "nsf", take into account that there is a lot of music and there are very beautiful tracks, I, and many others want this functionality ...

my opinion is as follows (maybe I read it somewhere):
1. The product is ultimately focused on the players of the main, original games, that the cartridge is more than fully able to cope with the task.
2. The largest / most voluminous game produced under the license of the nintendo - Metal Slader Glory(everdrive N8 well play this game.. )
3.and it is important: for large, as well as for "graffically advanced" games: mmc chips (mappers) were created, for expanding functions, RAM and features.
4. Optimization of mappers is extremely difficult work, especially (if I don’t confuse anything) cartridges are made by a very limited number of staff, and perhaps krikzz alone does the hardware and software .
5. and there is another thought: microcontrollers on 512kb (512 ppu / 512 cpu) have such a set of memory cells, work and processor architecture, and so on: which completely covers all official games produced by nintendo and third-party manufacturers. for the sake of the Chinese "999999 in 1" expand memory, probably expensive.
This also speaks of the limit options for "addresses" in RAM. They are as limited ... It is already invested in the codes of the game itself. And if you expand the size of ROM - it also means the use of very exotic and little known mappers "number ... often such were in Chinese collections.

Because It will be  to create a complex revision of the printed circuit from the zero and purchase more massive microcontrollers, with more memory ... Therefore, more than one separate conductors ... on such a board ''BGA "technology is not possible in principle ...

To me at the end - came NES - PAL (RGB) Console .
((Yes! just don't be intimidated: that french Mattel with fake RGB output! ))

I had to solder the AV-mod (There was a lot of work ... but I managed!)
... everything works very well.
I bought some cheap adapter - the old "Honey-Bee".
It even starts mmс5 (NTSC - of course with glitches).

All games run perfectly on the N8-Famicom Cart and another - Pirate-multicard.
the main thing - plenty of space inside the NES! Very easy to remove and not stuck!

Of course, if you run NTCS (US and J) games - it will be very slow and some will be with glitches!

I was able to play Elite (E) and Asterix and more!

Why did not you try version 20 ... there is already a whole chain of fresh firmware. Many people are lucky right away and the latest OS-20v RC7 package is working.
Someone is not very. Maybe you will correct the situation with distorted colors when loading a save game.

Good day.
* Your console is 100% working ...
 * This problem has been known to many for a long time, but it is not considered to be such a serious flaw.
Saves to do at the expense of the resources of the CPU and the RAM of the console itself: a very difficult task, due to the very limited capabilities of the console as a whole ... I think it’s more positive to think this is a huge library of games and rare / exotic mappers work properly. and thanks to the author. in the meantime, Krikzz has many other tasks and problems, other products. so you're still lucky. there are defects and problems where it is sadder and long-term to solve ...

EverDrive N8 / Re: Who sells complete NES libraries for the N8?
« on: February 15, 2019, 07:33 PM »
This is very serious, you are right ...
for this reason, we cannot provide direct links to paid collections (well, in any case, I do not know about them), since those sellers are unlikely to have the right to sell
... and I meanwhile, apparently, he did not go out for so long.because I thought that since 2007 it was officially allowed to distribute nes games.
I also remembered the difference between a patent and copyrights....
apparently I missed something out of sight.Thank you for such a detailed answer ... (I checked just in case: are there any links in my messages ... well, that is not present)

EverDrive N8 / Re: Who sells complete NES libraries for the N8?

Thanks for the clarification. Probably I got it wrong or confused somewhere.

I read about the distribution of the license, where: "changes of names, logo, authors' names" are inviolable and not allowed to sell "- I haven’t found more ... but about the free distribution of dumps - as it happens, nintendo, for now, Doesn’t pursue anyone, although Nintendo has its own collections and like rights, for example, nintendo mini or switch, I will try to clarify this question, if necessary, let's just help someone search for collections, otherwise the truth will be paid.[/size]

 write in google:. (GoodNES v3.14).

after that, make coffee and start sorting. A few hours can be lost. in one folder should not be more...I do not remember exactly ... but I would have left 50 each in the folder.

start creating folders with alphabetical order / section ...

Original N8 EverDrive cartridges are sold without games in general.
Even there is no micro SD card included, even firmware. empty cartridge.

and games for nes and famicom, free and free. You do not have to pay for games with expired patents 30 years ago.

yes, maybe you are right.
no one wants to mistakenly damage such a valuable thing, so - if there is no certainty - it is better not to open the cartridge.

But in any case: I hope someone who has this kit (n8-fc + adapter) can give us answers ...
for now The best decision to buy and check ...

also forgot to mention: on a NES more height (significantly), but also width! NES-72 pin, FC-60 pin
