EverDrive 64 / Re: SimCity 64 for Everdrive 64 Translation

From line 154

地形の造成や木などの設置を行う\LineBreak\ツールです。\End\ means = A tool for creating topography and setting up trees.

This is basic Google Translate. I am curious if we just drop all this text onto a web page and google will just translate it all.

Would it be possible for you to post that text that still needs to be translated here?

The patch was now successfully added with the rom I downloaded using Beat. Thank you so much for your help! While not all of the Japanese text is translated it looks very playable and I look forward to messing with it very soon.

EverDrive 64 / SimCity 64 for Everdrive 64 Translation
« on: August 12, 2019, 02:16 AM »
I was reading about being able to play SimCity on the N64 here: https://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=6982.0

Since it has not been posted on for the last 120 days a new post was recommended. I was able to find a rom called NUD-DSCJ-JPN_clean_oz_fixed_RTC.n64 that does play on the Everdrive 64 but it is all in Japanese and was not sure how to patch this particular rom or if there is a different rom I should be using. I got the rom from here if I remember correctly: https://64dd.org/dumps_p.html

"Patches apply to the v1.1 cart hack and the original disk dump." Yet is there a link to this hack or a way to create it so it works with the v0.6.36 patch? I tried using this patch with Beat since it works with bps files but it always causes an error. Any direction would be helpful since I would like to play this version of the game. Thank you!

Another said that v16 works fine for Codename: Viper, and I confirm that it works fine as well. Something that happened between v16 and v20 that causes these graphical glitches. Wasn't the MMC3 mapper improved? Both rc7 and beta 2 I tried and both had these glitches. I did not try any of the other v20 versions.

I have noticed graphical glitching with NES Codename: Viper. This is just playing the game without any save state practice. I tried it on OS v.15 and the glitching is still there. Not sure if it is a mapper issue or not. It is a MMC3 mapper.

Ok. Thanks for checking, I did not have the chance to look yet. Would be a great benefit for the everdrive since people are doing this with the powerpak presently and I would like to see that thing overshadowed completely.

Would it require a complete rewrite of everything in order for NES Final Fantasy to work the same as the cart? If you use the cart then all of the encounters are in the same places all the time no matter who does it. But if you use the ever drive then the encounters are in different places. They are  consistent lie in the same places  with the everdrive  but they are not in the same places  as they should be . How everdrive uses Ram or functions seems to impact Ram addresses utilized by the game for RNG. Presently the only way to learn the speed run of this game and play the world record route is to use an emulator or the powerpak. I would like to see people being able to utilize the everdrive to save State practice and play Speed Run route for Final Fantasy.

I also read the cart version of Metroid has a similar issues. Any way to make Everdrive games run in the same initial state as the actual carts?
Most games on NES rely on the random garbage in the RAM and the 2A03 CPU registers being present when the console is turned on. Since the Everdrive loads a menu before the game is executed, the RAM and CPU registers initialized to constant values from the OS being left beind. That is why certain games don't act like they should using real carts, with the best example being Terminator 2: Judgement Day, where the copyright screen does not show up at all on the Everdrive. The same thing can happen on the Gameboy as well.

Does the reset to game option and a hard reset solve the issue?
I would assume so, but I haven't really researched it much. The article does mention that Reset state is not affected.

I would give it a try tonight I'll let you know the results. I'm not sure how to do a hard reset with the ever Drive.

A previous person said that Akumajou Densetsu rom stopped working for them, and for me Castlevania 3 US rom stopped working? Are there hardware differences with the Everdrive because I thought it was all the same and that all future OS updates would work the same with all of them????? Do I need to buy the most updated version of the Everdrive? I was soooo excited to see that we can do save states for CV3 now and then the rom just doesn't work now lol.

Also wanted to update that with this new OS version we can now play StarTropics and use save states. Awesome fix!

I also wanted to mention that I can no longer play Cybernoid now either.

I have also noticed corruption when doing save states on Paperboy and Jaws.

Thank you for the update! It is really cool to be able to utilize save states for Mike Tyson's Punch-Out. It is very temperamental but I will be able to make it work. I can also do save states now on the J version of Castlevania 3.

I use unmodded front loader for this test and these are some results.

1) CV3 U version is not working at all, the rom does not start. Another has reported that it works for them.
2) press and hold reset no longer resets to menu.
3) Final Fantasy still cannot be used for Speed running since the everdrive somehow changes RNG values used for encounters.
4) another known issue is that you cannot have save states on when you play startropics. The game will start but it will not allow you to play it. The only way for the game to save progress and actually allow you to play the game is if you have the safe State functionality turned off.
