Mega Everdrive Pro is same size as normal Genesis cartridge.
You're right, I completely forgot! The Mega SD is the bloated one :)
I wonder if there will be a Black Friday discount this year? I bought my Everdrive X5 directly from Krikzz but now it's only available through authorized dealers, which I don't know if they'll follow the same discount. I would buy the ED Pro in a heartbeat and then sell my X5 at a later date.

Have you tried cleaning the cartridge connectors on the Mega Drive and 32x? Maybe the Everdrive X5/X7 is making contact where the Everdrive Pro isn't. Try spraying the contacts on a game cartridge with contact cleaner and then repeatedly insert/remove the cartridge a few times on the Mega Drive and on the 32x, then try the Everdrives again.

Simply awesome! I prefer the Mega Everdrive Pro's regular cartridge format over the Mega SD's virtua racing cartridge format, the only downside was the image format support that now seems fixed.

This is just a personal taste and in no way a deal breaker, but I really like the Mega SD menu small window that shows snapshots of the ROMs, and I hope that the ED Pro could add this option in the future, plus a snapshot of each save file instead of a full screen preview. Even better, an option to switch between snapshot image, cartridge image, and game box image. Now THAT would make the Mega Everdrive Pro even greater!

Just to clarify: Since both the Mega Everdrive Pro and the "other one" can run 32x games and Sega/Mega CD games, but not games that require both, do all Sega/Mega CD games enhanced with 32x also have versions without 32x requirement? I was checking the 32x games list at Wikipedia and by following these games links, they all seem to have both Sega/Mega CD versions and 32x Enhanced versions:
- Corpse Killer
- Fahrenheit
- Night Trap
- Slam City with Scottie Pippen
- Supreme Warrior
- Surgical Strike

EDIT: Sorry for the dumb question. As indicated in the Sega Retro:

Well, the title says "MegaCD/SegaCD support will be in the new Mega Everdrive PRO", which already is, and widely discussed in the other thread (that I didn't know about until now), so this thread can surely be locked away for all eternity.

Instead of creating a new topic, I decided to reply to this one, completely aware that the last relevant post was in 2013.

So, my 2 cents on the subject:
- I recently discovered a tool called Screen Scraper that downloads almost every type of image you can think of (2d box, 3d box, cartridge, title/gameplay, screenshot, marquee, etc) for pretty much every game of every system, genesis/mega drive included, with the same name as the ROM.
- whatever image format would eventually be supported by custom or official firmware, we would "only" need a tool to convert the downloaded images to the required format, or some kind of script using the required programs to convert the images.
- One simple suggestion to what to display: an image on the right side of the screen, showing either the box art or the cartridge, or possibly a menu option to select between none, one of the two, or both (one above the other). Or even simpler, just modify the firmware so it changes the background to a background with the same name as the selected ROM (ex: background_romName.jpg) where the image format is a black image with the box/cartridge art on the right.

“The loading times are identical to real hardware because it paces the sectors out the same as a real drive for compatibility reasons. Some titles will depend on the exact CD drive timing and the Saturn's CD Block itself can only handle a certain data rate, so while I may implement a turbo mode in the future, it will be a configurable option rather than on by default.

This also means that the choice of SD card is not critical - it only reads at a few hundred kB/s. As long as your card isn't actually faulty (fake capacity or bad sectors) then the Satiator is not picky.“

So it's "just" a matter of fine tunning the firmware. Let's hope he can do it quickly, it would be great if the Satiator started distribution sometime in 2020.

It looks like the fw is on a very early stage and comes with quite a few visible bugs. The pretty UI hasn't been insterted yet. Other than that it's all looking good. Hopefully he'll come up with a better retail strategy.

The main problem so far appears to be FMV skipping. Some games seem to play videos correctly, but that might be due to lower FPS. If it's caused by a bandwidth limitation on the Video CD interface, that would be a HUGE setback for this project. Let's just hope it can be fixed in a future firmware upgrade, because I really like the plug and play versatility of the Satiator over the (impossible to get) ODE internal cards...

Me too, if $150 AUS = $102 USD = €92, then I'm all over it!

Since I'm not a patreon, all I can see in his patreon page is his last 2 titles posts, "Shells" at November 4th and "BUILD" at November 10th, I'm hoping this means we'll start seeing production next year...

EDIT: A little more digging revealed that the 1st update was about warped shells, the following update one week later was about starting the BETA SHIPPING around the end of the current month! I guess some reviews will eventually start popping up on Youtube!

Will the Mega Everdrive Pro be able to play games that require both 32x and CD, for those that have a 32x? I don't have one (yet), but I noticed in the "My Life In Gaming" video about the Mega SD that when running 32x games, it couldn't use the CD emulation, nor ingame menu features.

I just got a Gamester multitap, it's a rebranded version of Performance's Super Multi-play.

- When set to Mode 2 for 4 player mode, with 2 right cables connected to ports 1 and 2, the Everdrive boots up normally, menu can be browsed with "white" player 1

- When set to Mode 2 for 5 player mode, with left cable connected to port 1, the Everdrive boots up normally, but menu can't be browsed from any controller input, including console's port 2

- When set to Mode 2 for 5 player mode, with left cable connected to port 2, the Everdrive freezes at the "OS init..." text message, having or not having a controller on console's port 1 doesn't make a difference

- If I connect the multitap in mode 2 to port 2 AFTER selecting a game, multiplayer works correctly, as in console's port 1 for player 1, and "blue" player 2, 3 and 4 (don't have a 5th controller to test 5 players)

If I'm not mistaken, MODE 1 is supposed to emulate Sega's Team Player multitap. Does anyone know if this also happens with the original Sega Multitap? Could this problem eventually be fixed in a future firmware update?

The only reference I found is that in Christmas of 1992 the Genesis was the best selling "toy". Either that, or it's the year that kmksoulja got his Sega Genesis  ;)

I only noticed it was an old thread after replying to it... I'm making my own PAL blue cover (well, trying to) and when I'm finished I'll open a new thread for members to post their custom cover creations for any system. It should be based in free tools like Paint.net and I'll even share the links to the images I used as source and the .pdn created by the program with all the layers separated for easier modifications. By the way, I replaced the Bar Code with a QR Code pointing to Krikzz.com  8)

It looks great, but I'm also from Europe so I would prefer a "Mega Drive" cover. Something like the Sega Mega Drive Classics for PS4, XOne and Switch, where it shows multiple characters seemingly jumping from the Mega Drive logo, but in this case they would be jumping from the EverDrive cartridge! Characters like Sonic, Shinobi, Ryu (Street Fighter 2), Axel/Blaze (Streets of Rage), Gilius (dwarf from Golden Axe), among other well known characters and symbols. The back looks great as it is, the only modification I would do is not adding text, or saving the image in a format that allows us to translate the text to localize the cover, something like a text layer.
