Can anyone clarify the sound volume issue debate?? What are the games where the difference sounds the most obvious and which OS firmware does it reproduce?? I have both the Famicom Classic and Famicom AV, even some RGB modded consoles so I'm curious to test the differences myself and probably report the outcome

Hi,
I just got my Mega Everdrive X7 to play on my Nomad ... I did the SMS mod on it so I have no problem playing SMS games but when using the YM2413 with some Japanese games that supports it, I simply have no sound ... Are there some additional wires to connect to have a luck to hear FM sound ? I’m a bit disappointed as I mainly ordered a X7 to enjoy this feature !
Edit : Ok there are some additional components and wires to solder :

This is the info you're looking for (taken from another form post):

"I'm not 100% sure what side of the resistors the capacitor is supposed to be on, but it works the way I put in place below.  Pin 1 on the Sega IC 315-5684 chip IS ground, and you connect that to the leg of the capacitor that needs grounding (or any other ground location on the board).  Only the non-grounded leg of the capacitor should make contact with your path between the IC and cart pins.

Pin 24 Sega IC 315-5684 <-----> 47k resistor <-----> .022uf capacitor not grounded leg <----->
Cartridge Connector Pin 1

Pin 10 Sega IC 315-5684 <-----> 47k resistor <-----> .022uf capacitor not grounded leg <-----> Cartridge Connector Pin 3

Any ground location (I used one of the power supply legs) <---> grounded/other leg of .022uf capacitor #1 and capacitor #2

To reiterate from the original instructions: yes you do need to lift the legs of pins 24 and 10 on SEGA IC 315-5684 before you connect the wires or this won't work.  I was able to do this by carefully applying heat with the iron while very gently pulling with an X-acto knife.  In their natural state they are attached to ground, so they have to be not touching ground for them to work properly for the mod."

Other than that, I also have modified my Nomad to play SMS games and FM sound. So far the results are great even on the Nomad!! Even though I have a few original carts, this is just an excellent alternative to play those games just using Everdrive on a portable system, rather than go around with a tower of awful adapters

I also wantd to report some FM sound bugs I discovered so far. I'm not sure whether this is existent only on the Nomad but here is what I noticed:

-in Penguin Land, when the egg crashes, the sound is very loud (not sure if this is what it is supposed to be though)

-in Wonder Boy in Monster Land during Stage Clear and counting down hearts for bonus points, the sound disappears (according to the emulator, it should be just as loud all the time)

Please take a look at those reports. Thanks in advance

Just to tell my few cents I also received Mega Everdrive recently and experienced the same exact error right on the start. What I actually found out is that the SD card was corrupted. I think I noticed that same SD card was glitching and corrupting some files on my phone previously for no reason. It is Kingston 8GB class 4 card and I always buy Kingston cards from the same places and never noticed anything like that before. I know this can happen sometimes but why this specific SD card started to corrupt data I have no idea lol (I tried using another Kingston SD card on that Mega Everdrive and it started to work)

The romantic tension between users here starts to get uncomfortable

I'm not sure whether this has been reported before, although I noticed glitches that happen randomly in some games on beta2 and I have never seen those glitches on final releases. For instance, here is Cat Ninden Teyandee with some strange image flicker on the bottom:

The same things happen on the same machine (Famicom AV RGB modded) using 2 different EDN8 FC and the same thing happened while disconnecting RGB board completely. I remember seeing some random glitches on another famiclone as well. I hope this gets attention and fixed, thanks in advance

OK I just got notified that Mega Everdrive I ordered recently has just been dispatched, so I expect it to come soon. By the way I just noticed it was dispatched from Ukraine although I thought it would dispatch from Cyprus. Why??

I ordered Mega Everdrive from retrogate as well and absolutely no update for over a week and no response either. What's next??

EverDrive N8 / Everdrive N8 capacitor values??
« on: May 18, 2018, 11:24 AM »
Hi there, can anyone give me some sort of map of caps on Everdrive N8 FC edition?? My PCB is v1.1 14.12.12. After exchanging caps from another working EDN8 it finally started to boot up, so I want to buy new caps and exchange them all. What are the values there?? As far as I could guess and measure the majority of them are 100nF filtering caps (the small ones). I can see the tantalum caps have 106A (correct??) marking on them. Any more details?? Thanks for all in advance

EverDrive N8 / Will my Everdrive N8 live ever again??
« on: November 24, 2017, 05:55 PM »
Hi there, I want to describe my problem- my Everdrive N8 started to make strange things recently. It glitched at random moments and once I ran diagnostic test, it reported SRAM error. I replaced the SRAM chip, even 2 different SRAM chips and there was still SRAM error. After that I resoldered all Everdrive chips and after that it worked but only sometimes. Sometimes it still didn't work and sometimes threw different errors. After I tried to resolder everything 1 more time it seems there was probably some shortage accidentally and after I tried to resolder it one more time, it stopped working completely. The LED doesn't even power up on it... It is 100% original Everdrive N8 that I bought from KrikZZ shop a few years ago. So, the only thing I can do is buy all Everdrive chips and install them or buy another Everdrive?? Is this possible to buy chips only from KrikZZ maybe?? How about replacing new FPGA chips only?? I'd be grateful to try to repair it in any way as the board still looks good. I will not post a picture this time since everything looks normal on the PCB now. Please for help. Thanks in advance!

EverDrive 64 / Re: Issues with translated roms
« on: November 25, 2016, 10:29 PM »
I tried out Zelda Ocarina of Time Polish translation and as I can remember it worked prefectly fine and I beat the entire game. Your patch is probably bad or incorrectly applied. Maybe PAL/NTSC issue??

EverDrive 64 / Re: Why are 90% of Super Mario 64 hacks not working??
« on: November 25, 2016, 01:05 PM »
That's what I also speculated too but it still doesn't make much sense to me. Emulators are still supposed to emulate N64 hardware, as well as NES, SNES and any other system out there. Almost all of the NES hacks work just fine on the real hardware

EverDrive 64 / Why are 90% of Super Mario 64 hacks not working??
« on: November 24, 2016, 10:42 PM »
I checked many Super Mario 64 hacks and I'm so disappointed about their compatibility. Almost none of them work and those that do, they have almost nothing changed besides from Mario himself and some basic level design change. Other 40% have massive glitches and the other 50% don't work at all. Is there any specific reason for this?? They seem to work on emulators just fine and they are the same ROM files for N64. Just in case, is there/will be any fix for this?? I already tried Mario ED64 patcher found somewhere here in this forum and that almost didn't help at all. I'd love to try some of those awesome Super Mario 64 hacks on the real hardware!!

All those problems with "OS init" freeze happens due mapper files fragmentation. Cartridge supports ROM files fragmentation, but system files in EDFC folder should be not fragmented. To avoid fragmentation you should delete all files inside of EDFC folder (may be except save folder) and then copy new files. Copying of new files over old files usually results to fragmentation (at least this is true for windows machines). Also i recomend to use biggest possible allocation unit size during sd formatting (32KB). This reduce possibility of fragmentation and make everdrive disk access work faster. I follow this simple rules and never had any problems after OS files update

Maybe you should make it clear in the OS Update section?? Maybe About_OS_Init.txt ??

Off Topic / Re: Overclocking Everdrives???
« on: November 14, 2016, 04:21 PM »
Hi again, not really thought this through but wanted to relay the question to KRIKZZ before I forgot.
Is it possible to increase the game clock speed when running say SNES games off the Everdrive??
As we all know loads of SNES (and other console games) run too slow - could modding the relevant Everdrive be an option?

Thanks
*Facepalm* You overclock the CONSOLE.

Are you absolutely sure about that *Facepalm* ??

EverDrive N8 / Re: Konami VRC7 Mapper Support Package
« on: November 08, 2016, 03:15 AM »
Any shit like that is absolutely stupid. We are a community that is so small that it's a heaven's bless if anyone produces something like a new remade NES console, Everdrive, adapter device etc. Let alone something hardcore like extra audio implementation that almost no one could achieve.

If any of this happened, it should be distributed open source or at least available to purchase in some way, in device form or software form. Everyone so much appreciates that either way. Seriously, after all that there appear assholes that sign contracts and make each other a competitor like in 1980s in such small community like ours?? Complete bullshit this is just stupid and shove all of those projects anywhere you want in this case. No offense, end of story
