So as of recently, newer Everdrive models such as the GBA X5 mini have been marketed with having solid gold connectors instead of the old ENIG, and apparently the N8 Pro had ENIG on the first run, but the current run has solid gold. But what about older models, for instance if buying a 64 X7 today (which is really not an old product at all) or even the GB line, will those come with solid gold connectors? Or do we have to wait for even newer models of those with a specific mention alongside it? If the latter is the case it would be good if this aspect was always mentioned on the product page for clarity.

Reasons I care about this aren't just theoretical btw, when I look at the connector of my GBA X5 that I've had since launch and compare it to actual GBA carts from back in the day, it looks much worse than those already, and it hasn't even been cycled that frequently at all. The gold layer has been visibly scraped off a bit already and then there's the fact that a different cart is needed for GB support, meaning more cycles can be expected by default...

EverDrive GBA / GSM Player incompatible with ED GBA X5

There is this GSM Player by Damian Yerrick (https://pineight.com/gba/gsm/) which can convert .wav files into a GBA ROM for playback. 231 MB worth of .wav files resulted in a ~5 MB ROM for me, so with the 32 MB max ROM size on the X5 it should be no issue at all. I verified the ROM in an emulator too, but still, it doesn't work on the X5, just comes up with a garbled Nintendo logo.

I've noticed that it is listed as a "4M" ROM in the menu even though the ROM is bigger than that, so that might have something to do with it. Either way, obviously it's of not much practical use, but still having it work would be cool even just for novelty, especially as seeing how the emulators are also supported on the X5. The old flashcarts seemed to support this program fine, as well.

Edit: found the solution, it is fixing the header with this tool.

Off Topic / Strange issue with mystery GBA SP

So I have this Arctic Blue AGS-001, that's what the sticker on the case says anyway... it's actually an AGS-101 in terms of functionality, with the backlit screen and two brightness settings. The issue is that sometimes I need to flick the switch 2 or 3 times before it turns on. Is this just the switch being dirty on the inside or could it be a sign of some sort of cap failure? The unit does work perfectly fine otherwise.

There is a warranty seal on the inside with Nintendo written on it so this could possibly be a unit refurbished by Nintendo themselves, though it's weird enough they would have put AGS-101 guts into an AGS-001 case apparently...

On this hack (ver. 1.1) I get a corrupted title screen with the SED v2, is that normal? It doesn't happen on footage I've seen on youtube, is the hack just designed with inaccurate emulators in mind?

Super EverDrive / DSP-1 with broken pin

I just installed a DSP-1 onto my Super Everdrive v2, but due to my complete lack of desoldering skills part of one of the pins broke off during desoldering. When soldering the chip I simply filled the gap with solder. Now I just tested Super Mario Kart and the game appears to work just fine, but in theory, can any problems arise when bridging a pin like that (apart from a bad solder connection I suppose)?

EverDrive N8 / ROM info wrong?

For example most of the Mega Man games are listed as using horizontal mirroring here, but the N8 shows the [!] ROMs as using vertical mirroring.

Super EverDrive / Translated Rockman & Forte doesn't work

Hi!

Can't seem to get this game to work on my Super Famicom. I'm using this translation with the correct ROM (checked with RapidCRC), it just stays on a black screen. I use a SED v2 with newest OS, any specific settings that I have to use?
