EverDrive GB / Write/Install GBOS v4 to EDGB Cartridge?
« on: February 10, 2016, 07:31 PM »
Hi All,
I just wondered if theres any way to write the GBOS.gb v4 menu to the EverDrive-GB cart, overwriting the default v1 menu? (I am hoping that this will help skip the longer boot process caused by loading the v4 menu from the microSD card)

The easiest method to do this would be an GBOS update that gives users the option to write the OS to the flash memory - perhaps with a disclaimer beforehand that this is done at the users own risk.

Alternatively perhaps this could be done with some EverDrive 64 homebrew and the N64 Transfer Pak?

Or maybe we could use a Game Boy cartridge reader/writer, like the one that came with the SMARTBOY CART:-
http://atariage.com/forums/topic/142114-smartboy-cart-in-stock-now-smartboycart-is-best-gameboy-develop-system/
(Original smartboy cart website no longer works)

This appears to be based on this design:-

I actually own one of these reader/writers, but unfortunately although I can read the EDGB's ROM (Flash Memory) and see the v1 menu stored in the first 32KB, I dont seem to be able to overwrite it :(

Any ideas much appreciated!
<EDIT>Updated post and mentioned v4 instead of v3.

EverDrive MD / Which PCB Revision of Everdrive-MD v3 do I have?
« on: November 19, 2014, 01:45 AM »
I purchased an Everdrive-MD v3 from retrogate last year, but having looked at the board it doesnt appear to have a PCB revision text (silkscreen) printed on it like other Everdrive MD v3 I have seen.

Does anyone know which PCB revision this is? Here is a picture from retrotowers which has the same PCB layout as mine:-

...and here is an Everdrive MD v3.2

I noticed an orange capacitor has changed position from the back to the front of the PCB when compared to my board.

Also does anyone know what the latest/current Everdrive-MD v3 PCB revision is, and what the changes/differences are if any?
