EverDrive N8 / Save file issue
« on: April 02, 2015, 06:01 PM »
So recently I loaded up Mother 25th Anniversary to continue playing from where I left off after the two month hiatus and to my dismay the save has been erased :'(.  I thought then that all my saves became corrupted since when looking at them in windows the modified date changed to 10/27/1983, but upon further inspection every other game's saves worked fine except for mother.

I then started to experiment with save states and such and I have a question.  Shouldn't saving to the game take priority to the saved state?  Say you started a new game, saved the state, then continued on and actually saved in the game, then after resetting the console your saved game would show.  Now if you randomly loaded the state you saved earlier which was from before you started a new game, then you do a reset, the saved game from before will be erased.

Okay, so I know it makes total sense logically, but shouldn't a save within the game take priority over a save state somehow.  I don't know, maybe I'm not thinking it through correctly because the battery save function is being emulated so it changes things up.

Anyway, :'(, does anyone have a save file for the game right at the start of Mt Itoi?

EverDrive GB / Great feature request (if not mentioned yet)

How about this one, is it possible to program a way to completely invert the display into the cart and be able to play games like that?  This way it saves modders the trouble of cutting traces and soldering in an inversion chip into their backlit gameboys.  You would save many people's hair from being pulled out.

FYI this would only apply to DMG gameboys with a backlight installed and inverted so in the end it could be biverted and greatly improve contrast.

EverDrive N8 / Blown away!!

I just want to thank Krikzz for such an amazing product!!

I ended up buying this sweet custom case off of someone in the Famicom World forums and finally put everything together last night to form the ultimate Everdrive Voltron of a cart.  After unzipping all my roms, sorting them out, and moving them to the SD card I was in business.  Completely worth every penny to the diehard Famicom/NES fan.  I really wish I could give this cart to the 8 year old me back in time, I would probably freak out like the N64 kid on Christmas.  You hit this sweet spot in my nostalgia because the Famicom/NES has always been my favorite console.

Finally, I have a couple of questions;

1)I see that you can save states in games and you can set it up from the options menu.  What button combination is the default D+T, U+T?  I would think thats down/up and something else?  What's the T?  Is the T for toggle as in you're supposed to set this up yourself initially?  I figured if there was a default setting I didn't want to deviate from it.

2)Are there any hotkeys to hold off on the FDS disk swapping or to control it yourself?  I love the auto disk swapping to begin with, but what if you wanted to read some game's prologue like in Zelda or see what happened beforehand in Doki Doki Panic.

3)I know the FDS game sounds aren't 100% accurate, but will they ever be in future?  I think the Everdrive is the most perfect preservation tool for FDS games as they always seem very fragile.  This cart will outlast all the disks so I'm hoping one day to be able to play them the way they were meant to be played, on real hardware with real sounds.  I wouldn't care if it took years to perfect, I'm just curious if it's possible.  Even most emulators on pc can't get the sound perfectly.
