Hi, sorry for refloating this post.
I wanted to know if the everdrive cartridge in Mark III worked this way.

I have also read about a mod that was changing a plate capacitor.

Have you tried os-v9.mso?
I'm asking because I have a japanese Master System and MasterED only works with os-v5.mso and os-v9.mso using that system.
Since Mark III is more or less a japanese Master System, maybe a downgrade isn't necessary.

Yes, I confirm that some codes do not work.
Also, seems like the N8 "injects" the codes slower and not every frame.

If EDN8 executing each game genie code using more cycles that's explains why invincibility doesn't work and infinite lives works.
Invincibility needs constant write even if it's asm code (from my understand at least).

It works fine on rc5 but it doesn't work using rc8 or 1.20 final.

PS: Some codes works and others don't. Weird.

For me this new rc8 is far more stable than any other released before.
From cold boot I only got IO error once, switching between error 63 and error fifty something, I don't remember.

There's a bug in game genie system.
Some codes that used to work are no longer working.
This only happens to some games not all of them.
For example:
Invincibility (ESST-GTEY) for Castlevania (USA) (Rev A).
Invincibility (ESUA-GAEY) for Mega Man 3 (USA)
Invincibility (APEP-NZAL) for Batman - The Video Game (USA)
Invincibility (ATOP-EZVG) for Batman (Japan)
Invincibility (ESUA-GAEY) for Mega Man 3 (USA)

Game Genie code that I've tested and working:
Ninja Gaiden (USA)
BurgerTime (USA)

Krikzz I hope you reading this.
I have EDN8 for about a year only and it's a real bummer that you don't have enough space to fix the OS rc20 so I have a suggestion.
Could you split the new OS in two parts, one for "normal" games and one for "special audio" games?
Of course we'll need to swap between two SD cards to use EDN8 but is better than getting errors from time to time.

I'm an older video game fan (Atari and NES only), so most terms are new to me. Even had trouble finding this, my original post HA!

When you say 'Load cart'  or 'without Sd card' I'm not sure what you mean.
Are you saying to leave the SD card out of the shell and THEN load it and power on my NES for diagnostics?

How do I make sure cart is original and not a clone?

Thanks for your help. Sucks not being able to play NES Burgertime whenever I want :(

- remove SD card from the cartridge
- turn on the system
- you should see an error message
- insert SD card
- press Select+Start+A+B at the same time

I'm asking because the Everdrive itself is already consuming extra juice to work and If I add one more thing that requires more energy maybe it can cause damage to the cartridge, console or maybe both?

I have 3 different revision famicoms, where my N8 works on ALL of them just fine.
George has 4 different revision famicoms, but his N8 has problems on ALL of them.

What is the common problematic device?

RC1-3 and 5-7 are unusable on all of my AV Famicoms. RC4 works though.

That's interesting.
RC5 is more stable on my unmodded AV Famicom. It's very rare to see any kind of error.
All others RC's doesn't work.

Thanks for the confirmation! Can you specify your version of TED card please? Would be useful to find out if other TED versions have the same problem.

Other tracks do it too, but that one is particularly noticeable. I haven't tried other games to see if they do it as well...

Seem to be getting some audio pops with my TED v2.5, extremely noticable on Blazing Lazers sound test for level 5 (get into sound test by holding SEL and pressing left and right repeatedly on the dpad). A video on youtube of the same track sounds absolutely fine (

I've tested this on two separate systems - a white JP PC Engine, and a US Turbo Express, and also with different SD cards. Also happens with Gunhed (Japanese version of the game)

Can anyone test theirs as well to see if it's a common issue?

You're right.
This track has some strange popping sound.
I wonder if the original HuCard does the same.
Does anyone here own the original game and could test for us?
