I'm using the purple shell from a famicom kung fu, purple's awesome. I just need to move the sd card slot inward so it fits, other than that, it seems to fit very well (just had to remove some internal plastic from the shell

EverDrive N8 / Move the MicroSD slot - Famicom N8
« on: May 07, 2018, 11:14 PM »
Hey everyone,
I have a famicom N8 that was once inside of a NES shell with the Gyromite pin adapter and it works great and there was no need to cut a hole/notch for the sd card slot. I like my everdrives to have everything self contained with no card slots when I can. Anywho, I just got into Famicom and imported a system and a disk drive. I'd like to move the N8 famicom board into a real Famicom cart shell. I got my donor game and stole its shell, but the SD card hits the shell when closing it up. I noticed o nthe board where the SD card slot is, there seems to be a contact pad foot print for the card to be moved in as well, just to confirm. I should be able to unsolder the current port and re-solder it in the shifted place and it should still work?

Also, best way to desolder it? I was thinking about using ChipQuik to remove the port, clean the area, and then re-solder it with normal solder

Oh very cool!
That's probably what I'm gonna do with mine then, I like how (as far as I can tell) you don't have to cut a slot for the SD card, you can just have it self contained in the shell so on the outside you can't even tell the carts been carved at all. Much more excited that I can use an real cart shell without having to butcher the outside appearance. Mine came in about 2-3 weeks ago, but it's a birthday present from my brother and sister, so I don't get it until the 30th... so this 4 day wait is killing me. but at least I can start working on the cart shell now as I wait.

I wonder if one could desolder the battery and holder and solder a typical GB cart battery with tabs in it's place, if that will slim it enough.. hmm..

I've been playing mine on my Original GBA modded with a AGS-101 screen and a new Glass lens. You can buy kits on eBay for about $50 to do this yourself, comes with the adapter cables, a new shell, and the kits use new LCD screens (not harvested from AGS-101 systems). I'm assuming the screens are NOS from HK sites that sold replacements like miniinthebox and dealextreme. The system looks, feels, and works amazingly! I like how the cart pops out the top rather than the bottom like on a SP system (which would dig in to my chest when I laid in bed to play and rest the system on my chest when playing). I then got a NOS GBA battery pack so now I also have rechargeablility!

I'm wicked excited for this to come out! not sure if its been asked or not, but It looks like the micro SD card wont need to have a slot cut in the cart shell, should all just fit inside.

As I wait for the board to go on sale, and then be purchased, shipped, in my mail mans bag for delivery, and then arrive in my hands, I've started making a label design for my cart, this is what I got thus far, I'll probably have a few more revisions coming as I tweak it more and more as I wait.

Keep up the great job!!! YOU ROCK KRIKZZ!!

EverDrive N8 / Looking for a awesome NES Cart Label for the N8
« on: June 07, 2013, 05:10 PM »
Any artists here make a really awesome looking label for the Everdrive N8 for a USA cart?

I found a few online, but nothing that screams "USE ME ON YOUR CART!!!"

I'd make one, but alas, I'm talent less :(

thanks everyone! ^-^

Turbo EverDrive / Max Directory Size?
« on: April 03, 2013, 05:20 PM »
I know this has been asked before, I just can't find the answers.
What is the max directory size for the Turbo Everdive?

I did a search and found that KRIKzz once said (for the megadrive version) "max dir size shown in device info." how do I find the device info?
I have several Everdrives, and would like to find out the dir size for each one, without being a bother and asking on each forum topic.

Thanks everyone!!

(My current Everdrive list: TurboDrive, N8, Super Everdrive, Everdrive 64)

Just got my N8 in the mail today! I'll post pics in a gold zelda shell, later tonight, just because :P

oh yh i forgot about zelda gold cart, would indeed look better, but a pricey game to disect lol
It is, but luckily I have a shell only already to go. Only issue is its the 3 screw version, I may just have to wait for the nes n8

Yup that's it, a snip and done.

i didnt think ed64v2 supported rsmmc...
It doesn't, but what I posted was a micro sd to sd adapter, works great! Using mine right now, I'll post pics later if it helps
