EverDrive N8 / Re: Will there be different colour N8 Pro shells?
« on: February 24, 2020, 07:35 PM »
I'm waiting for the black (transparent or flat) famicom at

I saw a comment a few weeks ago at twitter that will be soon available.

A clear black would be awesome!  Can only hope the NES N8 Pro gets some love as well?

Cheers for the info

I played with the N8 pro for a few hours today and not once had a problem with the save being first.  To be honest I think I would be annoyed if load was first.  My opinion of course.

While I like the red wish I could get the blue the famicom N8 Pro color for the NES version?

Can you PLEASE swap the Save and Load positions on the in-game menu for the pro? Save should be happening less often, and should be the second option, not the first. I've had the pro for only 3 hours and I've already accidentally saved over my states a dozen or more times

Disagree with you. I use saves way more often than loads. This related to specific gaming style which is different for each one.

This^ I like the way it is now.  Most don't speedrun.

Glad I seen this thread I just updated my AVS firmware.  Just waiting on my N8 pro nes :)

EverDrive N8 / Re: N8 Pro NES Black Static
« on: February 03, 2020, 09:30 PM »

Just received my N8 Pro NES today and I'm having this really weird issue.  When I first turn the NES on everything looks normal, but after about 20 or 30 seconds these little black streaks start flickering across the image.  It starts off with one or two flickers then gets progressively worse until the whole screen is covered in black static.  This doesn't happen with my original EDN8 or original carts on this Frontloader NES.  It happens whether I load a game or if I just leave it on the menu and don't press any buttons.

After verifying this only seems to happen with the N8 Pro cartridge I also tried all of the following troubleshooting:
- switched out my Retro Game Cave power supply for an OEM power supply
- wrapped the cart in foil (for a makeshift RF shield)
- upgraded the 7805 with a brand new 2A version
- removed the Blinking Light Win and used the original edge cartridge connector
- moved the NES to a different TV on a different floor of the house

I borrowed a different front-loader NES, popped the N8 Pro into that one and everything seemed to work perfectly.  I was able to play for several minutes I didn't see any hint of black flickering at all.  So the problem is definitely that cartridge with that console, but I'm not sure why.  I've ordered a capacitor kit for the first NES because the fact that it takes a few seconds to start exhibiting the problem is a pretty good indicator that it's a capacitor problem, but while I wait for the kit to arrive, I wanted to ask in case there might be some other known explanation for this.

Does the N8 Pro draw more power than the older model?  If it does that might explain why my NES still works fine with standard carts but not with the N8 Pro.

At any rate, I'll try to update this post after I've re-capped the first NES.

If it works fine on the other front loader then it's not the cartridge, but your NES.

Yuck, do not like the transparent red case.

I'll get one when the grey version is available.

I like the red shell, but would also like other colours as well.

EverDrive N8 / Is there a new N8 in development?

Someone on another forum said a new N8 is in the works?  Is this true?

Mega EverDrive / Re: Mega Everdrive X7 Ingame Reset - Mega SG
« on: April 01, 2019, 05:39 PM »
Hello everyone,

I received the Mega SG (beautiful), the ingame menu does not work anymore! I even changed the hotkey of the SG and the same.

Hi @dani31, the topic title is misleading as it suggests that the issue is just merely being able to reset the game. The real issue is not being able to use the X7 save state feature at all. Can you change the title to be "Mega Everdrive X7 Ingame Menu with Save States - Mega SG"? And I'm still waiting on people who got the X7 to work to give the EverDrive OS version that actually works.

I've been using my Mega EverDrive X7 OS v3.07  on the Mega Sg and it's working flawlessly.  Save States working great.  A few games here and there glitch, but most work perfect.

Happy to report Master Everdrive x7 seems to be working 100% with Mega SG using the included Master System adapter. In-game menu and save state is working, no corruption problem from SD card so far.

Save states working, but loads of games glitch when using it

Mega EverDrive / Mega Everdrive X7 Save state compatibility list?

I find some games glitch after you use save states on Mega EverDrive X7.   Other games are fine.

Is there a list of games that don't work with the X7 after you save?

I have a AVS.  Is os 2.0 rc6 good.  I hear MMC3 is best on rc6?

Has there been an announcement for new hardware for the NES/FC? If not I hope one comes soon, for something like an N8 Pro.

Krikzz's time is better spent on new hardware that will work for everyone and do more than trying to squeeze out as much as possible from old hardware that obviously cannot keep up with firmware updates and that already does the same, if not a lot more, than what was offered when most people bought it..

Not everyone wants to spend more money on a new version if the older N8's still work good.
