It may work if you reattach the dtack line in your 32x. Too bad I have only an x5 but my Virtua Racing cartridge works.

What's that dtack line thing?
But hey, according to Krikzz, the update is also suitable for X3 and X5. Go check it out!

Hello everyone!

The comunity of SD2SNES users became ultra-excited since yesterday, because a man called Redguy came from nowhere and released a beta implementation for the Super FX chip, and now it's possible to play roms that require that chip.

My question is: could be possible to make such kind of implementation to run SVP games (a.k.a. Virtua Racing) on the Mega Everdrive (at least on X7)? Could X7's hardware handle this kind of implementation through firmware update like the SD2SNES?

I'm glad to know that this became a reality two days ago, and almost 2 years after starting this topic and dreaming with it.
Also, I was fortunate to get myself a 32X unit in the meantime, so now I can play both Genesis and 32X versions of Virtua Racing.  ;D
(It's important to notice that the Genesis version won't run if the 32X unit is attached, but it works like a charm in the Genesis directly)

Thanks Krikzz for turning this hope into reality!

EverDrive 64 / Re: Problem with games randomly freezing.
« on: March 08, 2019, 07:34 AM »
This problem also happened to me, and I'm sure it's not an Everdrive problem.
I've also tested my N64 with original carts, and I still face the same problem: games freeze after a few minutes.

I did some research and couldn't find any feasible solution yet.  :'(

If I remember right someone tested a 64GB SD card and it worked fine, I could be wrong tho.

Can you find the thread's link?

Looking at Discord, it seems that auto-region patching was the culprit on this one...

Exactly! Luckily, I was able to reach ikari_01 himself there, and he immediately figured out the solution.

But thanks to everyone who tried to help me! I really appreciate it!

Are you playing on a real SNES or a Super NT by chance?

If you're playing on a Super NT and have the real cartridge version of the game you want to play I believe the jailbreak firmware has an option that allows you to dump your own authentic cartridge's rom to SD card.

From there you could then try things out with absolute certainty you have a clean viable rom.

Alternatively if you are playing on a Super NT you may need to check your settings and make sure you have the NTSC or PAL region checked as in make sure the box is checked of your corresponding rom's country which as you basically pointed out in your case would be NTSC.

I'm using a real SNES.
A Super NT wouldn't work anyway, since it only has HDMI output for modern TVs, and lightguns only work on CRTs.

Other than that you could try re-formatting your SD card and putting all the info back or trying a different brand SD card altogether.

Sometimes the seemingly stupidest, simplest, most implausible attempts at a fix end up being what gets you the result you want which of course is to play your game of choice.  :P

I don't think there's anything wrong with my SD card. All ROMs boot just fine.
Once the ROM loads, it doesn't affect anything, because all the game data is already loaded into the FPGA.

Edit: Another idea is perhaps your SD2SNES's internal battery might be dying.

Have you got any strange messages on power up alluding to this?

Very unlikely to be a battery issue. It's working fine, the clock is always displaying the correct time and I'm not getting any strange messages.

Does your SD2SNES seem to struggle to boot up at times??

No. It boots just fine. Every compatible ROM also boots just fine too.
The only issue is that the Super Scope is not working as intended.

Usually they're perfect, but it's something else to rule out by trying another set that includes the problematic games, if you can find one.

It could even be your power supply considering your original carts and SS work without issue. SD2SNES draws a little more power than any retail cart and your PSU could be struggling to power both the cart, and the SS. Again, just something to rule out.

I'm not sure if it's the power supply, but I will look for another one for testing. I use other periferals with the SD2SNES, such as the Super Multitap, without any issues.

I was going to suggest using another cable, but you said your retail cart(s) work fine. It could be a bad ROM dump.

Yes, the original carts just work as intended with the same cable.
Also, I believe the roms are good dumps, they're from SmokeMonster's pack, and the source is the No-Intro set. I don't think those roms are bad dumps.

I'm using NTSC roms.
System and TV is also NTSC?
Works for me on PAL system + PAL TV + PAL rom (and Japanese scope, but scope is region free). I haven't tried on NTSC.

Yes! NTSC system and TV, through HD Retrovision's component cable.

Anyways. You have more things to disable there and not only the in game hooks. Best is disable anything in that menu for a test. Like brightness patches and stuff.

I usually keep those other settings disabled. The problem still persists.

1.8

Are you using SA-1 and SDD-1 beta cores over it?

... and once more... these beta cores are only active when you use a SA-1 OR SDD-1 games and none of these exist for the Super Scope

You're right, that makes sense. Thanks!

I just tried mine, had no issues.  I guess double check that your roms on the SD2SNES are NSTC and not PAL, though that probably shouldn't matter.

I'm using NTSC roms. Which firmware version are you using?

I don't have a Super Scope; I wish I could test for you!  Have you tried turning off the in-game hooks?  Maybe that's interfering.

Hey Sarge! Thanks for your reply! Yes, I've tried turning off the in-game hooks, but got the same results.  :'(
