EverDrive N8 / Re: Compatibility with RetroUSB's AVS??

Grab the smokemonster everdrive n8 pack and give that a shot.

A bunch of his roms are sourced from no-intro, but they are all tested by the community and he regularly updates as needed. He also has the some of most up to date mappers for N8 included, including several expansion audio mapper fixes for certain famicom games.

Just format and unzip to the sd card it comes preloaded with the os files, nothing needs to be added to get it working.

Can you give me a link to the EXACT SD card you are using?

I actually tried that and it still froze, I'll try it again without the beta version of the AVS system and report back.

Edit: Yeah, that didn't work.

I need to ask, I've been trying to get my Everdrive N8 to work with my AVS for the past week. I've formatted, reloaded, tried other cards, made sure the AVS system was up to date everything I can think of to get it to work to no avail. I get stuck on the 'OS Init...' screen.

I did notice that in the video the 'SAVES' folder is outside of the 'EDFC' folder, could that be what I'm missing.

1. There's no reason why your evedrive wouldn't work on the AVS, which OS version are you using on both the everdrive and AVS? make sure you have the latest for both, and follow the installation instructions to the letter for both.

2. Test with different microSD, perhaps thats the issue.

3. Make sure your everdrive works on real hardware.

4. Test your AVS with real carts.

5. Did you buy your everdrive directly from Kkrikz.com?

I bought the Everdrive from Retrogate.com, both of them are up to date to the latest firmware, and the AVS does work with original NES carts. I haven't been able to test the N8 with an original NES though.

What is the source of your ROM and N8 system files? The go-to option is the Smokemonster Everdrive pack. Google it and give that pack a shot. You don't have to do anything but unzip all the folders to a freshly formatted sd card. It works great.

The No-Intro Collection.

EverDrive N8 / Re: New N8 blinking red with blinking screen

Yeah that's odd. The latest OS should be v15 I believe. Correct me if I'm wrong. And I downloaded mine from the N8 product page of Krikzz everdrive store. Obviously you want to have the EDFC folder on the root of the card seperated from all other folders including roms, which I'm sure you are doing already.

I have made sure of this. I grab the download from the official store page, unzip the file, drag the whole EDFC folder onto the card, put a folder with 1 rom(for testing) and then try and boot it up.

I have done this after formatting in Fat32(32kb and 64kb) to no avail.

As for my os init.... freezing I had to reformat my sandisc 8gb card and then I redownloaded the OS and put it on SD card again and it worked.

See, I've tried that to no avail multiple times, even used an SD card that was mentioned in the fixes thread. I think I just might have a dud cart that needs repaired. Unless i'm installing the OS wrong or the wrong OS.

check your AVS HD NES firmware is updated
and
you need defragment your sd
newer OS does not have extra memory to read fragment files

I'll check the AVS firmware. I have defragmented this SD card multiple times with the windows defragmentor and a 3rd party one. I'll report back.

EDIT:
I have the latest AVS firmware (1.10).

I just reformatted and tried again, nothing. Do I just have a dud cart?

I tried the above steps with the 'Init OS...' bug to no avail, I'm even using the exact SD card posted in the thread. Any other tips to get rid of it? I can't even use the cart with that bug.

RetroUSB doesn't sell the Everdrive. Are you sure that is who you purchased the Everdrive from?

You're right sorry. I meant to say RetroGate. Which from what I understand is an official retailer of the EverDrive. Since posting this I have tried an SD card that was mentions in the Help and Fixes post and still to no avail.

I should also add, that the cart is the red carts they now longer sell anymore, don't know if that would have anything to do with it.

Alright, I just got my Everdrive N8 from RetroUSB. I load the OS on it and load the ROMS and it stays frozen at that screen. I have formatted it, and re-downloaded the OS multiple times, even tried earlier versions.

I'm using a SanDisk Ultra SDHC 1 Class 10 8GB and an AVS HD NES system to try an play it.
