Ahh ok, did any other games use the same mapper as Sim City? Did altering it break any of the other games. This is interesting.

According to nesdev wiki, it's needed for:

Castlevania 3
Just Breed
Uncharted Waters
Romance of the Three Kingdoms II
Laser Invasion
Metal Slader Glory
Uchuu Keibitai SDF
Shin 4 Nin Uchi Mahjong - Yakuman Tengoku
Bandit Kings of Ancient China

These are now working, along with Sim City, with the mapper update Krikzz posted on Twitter.  I'm using v16 firmware.

Yeah, it works fine in Mesen. 

I'm at a point where I can play the Sim City game lol.  So, just using the NT Mini, the graph charts, and the other screens I posted, are perfectly viewable.  So I took snapshots of the graph pages, etc., and printed them out lol.  With the N8 Everdrive, the actual gameplay itself is doable in the same way that the other parts the NT Mini shows correctly.  So, I can play the building portion using the EDN8, and refer to the printed papers from the NT Mini portion that works correctly lol.

That's a temp solution while it gets worked on.  Kevtris said he'll work on it when he has time, but he's still in deep with Analogue stuff right now.  I'm waiting on my eproms and a famicom cart for Uncharted Waters and I'll do some surgery to have a playable cart lol.

I'll have to find it.  Something along the lines of not being able to recreate the issue so we'll have to stick with v16 for now. 
edit:  never mind on that, issue was i/o error.

That being said, I'm still not able to use the v20 any rc, with N8 plus original front loader nes.  It works fine with the NT Mini.  I've tried on the suggestions for possible fragmentation, and used several brand new never used sd cards with fat, fat32.  No go so far.

Using v20 rc4, on the NT Mini, I also have the garbled starters screens, and then getting to the map is fine.  The admin screens that come up to adjust tax rate, etc., are still garbled up though.  So, while "close", it's definitely not playable in the real sense of playable.

If we can roll the NT Mini solution with the N8 solution lol, it might be all playable.

Soooo...  this is kinda confusing.  Earlier it was discussed and said that some N8 wouldn't be able to use the new OS, v20, due to the OS Init freeze.  If I use the N8 on my Analogue NT Mini, v20 rc4-7, it loads fine.  Using it on an original NES gives me the OS Init freeze. 

The OG NES works fine with v16.

I just tried it [V20 rc6] and it seems very playable.  The first few title screens are garbled but the game itself runs fine.

What are you running it on? 

This is on the Analogue NT Mini:





If I use the N8, with v20 rc7 on the NT Mini, none of those screens that are correct will be there.  Everything is garbled.  I'll try it with rc6 though.

There is an option.

Click on Profile. On the page that appears hover over Modify Profile and click Look and Layout. You can then set the amount of hours, plus or minus, in the Time Offset field.

Oof.. How did I miss that.  smh.  I did everything except hovering.  Thanks for the help with what should have been a simple task for me.

Maybe I'm missing the option, but I at least can't find an option to change my timezone on here.  It displays 7hrs ahead of my USA eastern time zone.

Tested it with v1.6 on the NES, no go.  Tested v2.0 rc7 on the NT Mini, no go.  Tested on the NT Mini via sd card, still no go.

OS v. 16 doesn't have the as much support for the MMC5 as the later v. 20 RCs have. Not sure where 1.6 and 2.0 comes from.

Edit: Tried SimCity proto on RC4 and it shows garbled graphics.

It's the v20. I didn't notice there isn't a decimal.  So, my 2.0 rc7 is the v20 rc7.

Playing it via sd card with the NT Mini, it has less garbled graphics.  I can get all the way into the game on a map without issue.  Once on the game map, that's where the problems start when using the NT Mini + sd card.  Playing on the NT Mini with the N8 v20 rc7, it's garbled upon startup.

I've been having the OS Init freeze issue trying ever v20 OS.  If I just change it back to v16, it loads proper and runs proper.  I've tried all the suggestions in multiple threads on how to fix it.  I even used two brand new SD cards to no avail.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

 

I think that mentioned crashes relaterd to io problems. It looks like incorectly readed data from sd card. Unfortunately i cant reproduce this problem on my hardware, so it will not be fixed in v20. Users with io errors will be forced to stay at v16, at least for now

IO problems from the cart itself?  Like a hardware problem?
If I use the NT Mini, with rc7, it's working just fine.  If I use the original NES, its only working on v16.

Sometimes it's the little things.  So, I thought about doing it, but since it was already working, I just decided to be dumb and not press the dang button 7 times.  Thanks for reminding me how simple things can be.  smh  I'm an idiot today.

EverDrive N8 / N8 working with NT Mini, but not OG NES. (other nes carts do)

So, I get my old original NES back, and it's mostly clean still, no issues with my regular NES carts.  My N8 works fine with my NT Mini, no issues there.  However, putting it in my NES, I just get the blinking red light, with the screen just blinking green/black.  I cleaned it just in case, but not luck.

Original carts tested:
Legend of Zelda
Mike Tysons Punchout!
Super Mario Bros. 3

Any suggestions? (N8 has latest firmware nesos-16)
