Some of these games are not supported by the EverDrive, for example the castle which requires 8kb of embedded cartridge ram.

Here is a patch for the Alex Kidd BIOS to make it run as a regular game rom:
http://www.smspower.org/forums/10249-AlexKiddHamburgerHack#46880

And here is a hacked BIOS with the Snail Maze game:

It didn’t work for me. I renamed the save file the same name as the Goldfinger rom too. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

B) Tell the Everdrive 64 to use the 4kb EEPROM/EEP save format for the game. To do this, you must open the file 'save_db.txt' that is in the 'ED64' folder on the Everdrive's SD card, and add the line:

GF=1

to the end of the 'save_db.txt' file. Save the updated 'save_db.txt' file back into the 'ED64' folder, overwriting the original file, and now Goldfinger 64 will save correctly on your Everdrive 64.

Like from the save file? Thanks in advance
Just use a GoldenEye save file. It is compatible.

EverDrive 64 / Re: FPS of NTSC games on PAL console
« on: November 04, 2018, 03:54 PM »
Thank you. What about the black bars? Is that determined by the console video output?
Black bars are determined by the game programmers. Some programmers were too lazy to adopt NTSC games to the higher PAL resolution and instead filled the remaining pixels with black bars.

You won't see any black bars when running NTSC games on your PAL console as games are output in PAL60 which happens to have the same resolution and refresh rate as NTSC.

EverDrive 64 / Re: Super Smash Bros GameShark Codes
« on: October 20, 2018, 08:35 PM »
Try this rom: "Super Smash Bros. (U) [f4] (GameShark)".

It is already prepatched so that you can use GameShark codes. You can download it here: https://alexvampire.wordpress.com/2015/05/09/goodn64-3-21/

With this rom, it is not necessary to use the Master Code. I did not test your cheats but when I last played the game, I was able to use the cheat to play as Metal Mario on the Metal Mario stage in VS mode.

EverDrive 64 / Re: FRAM or better N64 memory card.
« on: October 15, 2018, 09:19 PM »
Necron 44, the described behaviour indicates that your controller pak's battery is empty.

I believe that a short reset does not cut power or at least not long enough to make you loose your save even with an empty battery.

You're mixing something up with ED64's functionalities. On the ED64 v3 you don't have to reset your console for your ordinary cartridge saves. Buy you still need to return to the ED64 menu if you want to backup your controller pak saves to the sd card. If the battery of your controller pak is empty, this is the only way to permanently save games that rely on the controller pak. In these cases you need to reset, even on an ED64 v3.

When you have an ED64, it doesn't matter if the Controller Pak's battery is empty or not. Once the N64 is turned on, the Controller Pak draws its power from the controller port. You can then load the latest save file from the ED64's SD card to the Controller Pak and start playing your game. When you have finished playing, you press reset to return to the menu so that you can dump the contents of the Controller Pak back to the SD card. Once you turn off the console, the save on the Controller Pak gets corrupted because of the empty battery. The next time you play, you need to load the backup from the ED64's SD card.

Mega EverDrive / Re: SMS Game Issue (Blank Screen)
« on: August 24, 2018, 12:26 PM »
SMS games can have either video modes 0-3 or 4. Only video mode 4 (the most common one used for SMS games) is supported by the Genesis' VDP.

This mostly affects compatibility with Taiwanese, Korean or SG-1000 games. The only official SMS game I know of that is incompatible with the Genesis' VDP is F-16 Fighter (also known as F-16 Fighting Falcon).

When you run games that are incompatible with the Genesis' VDP, the behaviour is as you described. You can hear and play the game but the screen remains black.

Mega EverDrive / Re: Knuckles Chaotix won't boot- Mega Everdrive x3
« on: August 20, 2018, 08:23 PM »
Thanks, how do I get the rom from that? Sorry but I don't know much about hex code.
Just use the filename and the CRC value and Google it. The first result is the rom you need.

This ist the correct rom:

Chaotix ~ Knuckles' Chaotix (Japan, USA)

CRC32: D0B0B842

I assume the battery is okay since I got the N8 less than a month ago and probably have used it for less than 30 hours total.
Your assumption might be incorrect. Even newly delivered Everdrives sometimes come with empty batteries. Try to change the battery and see if you still get this error.

...
Thank you!

Could you please describe in more detail what you changed apart from the region lock?

I only changed the hex values posted by Chilly Willy in this post: http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthread.php?28070-How-do-I-play-the-Japanese-Virtua-Racing-Deluxe-on-a-U-S-32X&p=673329&viewfull=1#post673329

What else was changed at offset DDA-DDB and DE2-DE3?
