EverDrive N8 / Re: How are Save Games supported?

EDN8 makes save files automatically, also cart allows to save or load any  file manually

Thats great news!

Will it auto load a save file as well?

EverDrive N8 / How are Save Games supported?
« on: February 12, 2013, 12:37 AM »
Hi,
I hope this is a dumb easy question and I hope the answer is "it's just like the everdrive for SNES/N64"

How are save game files handled?

When I play a game, save my progress at a ingame save point, will the N8 automaticly create a .SAV file on the Micro SD card?
or will it be like the PowerPak where you have to have the .SAV file on the card first, and select it each time you want to play the game/use it?

Thanks!!
Can't wait to get mine in the mail!!

For me, its going to be either a grey cart or a spare Zelda Gold cart ^-^

I currently have, well.. had a PowerPak from Retrozone with the red color, didn't like how it looked, rather have the original look from the 80's myself. So I sold it today when I found out Everdrive has a NES/Famicon board! I LOVE the Everdrive line!

Just a question, debating if I'll get the famicon N8 or wait for NES version, will there be any differences in the two other than form factor? and any price difference?

THANKS!! YOU ROCK KRIKzz!
form factor is the only difference. NES version probably will cost bit more, cuz nes require cic and huge size pcb, difference around 2-3 usd

When you say NES will require a cic, what does that mean? as in, if I get the famicon version with the pin adapter, will it work just fine in my US/NTSC NES or will i have to remove the lockout chip or mod the system in some way?

I assume the hole should line up and fit pretty much like this picture.

Hi everyone,

I have a Gyromite with the convertor. Curious how well will the N8 board (famicon version) fit into a NES housing/shell with this adapter?

Thanks everyone!!

So I'm guessing I'd want to use 6105 if I plan to play Banjo Tooie, what carts have this chip inside?

and if I use this chip will it stop other games that use a different chip version from working?

Hey Everyone!
I'm a happy owner of a Super Everdrive, and On December 25th a Turbo Everdrive! These things are great!

Now I have my sights on a EverDrive 64, and I'm reading about the cic's. This is similar to the SNES I'm guessing, where you have to remove a chip from a real cart and solder it in. Whats the best chip to use on a Everdrive 64? where could I find this chip? also what chip can I use to bypass Banjo Tooies Lockout?

I'm completely clueless on the N64 scene.

thanks everyone!

you need rs-mmc card. like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/2GB-DV-RS-MMC-RSMMC-Memory-Card-for-Nokia-7610-N72-E025-/320773048011?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item4aaf9046cb

Thanks KRIKzz!!! You are the coolest!! looks like 2GB is the biggest size for those cards. That should be enough for me ^-^
thanks again!

and chop off the USB side, hoping there are better methods

thanks again!
