News / Re: EDN8 OS V12

Do the VRC7 and FME-7 mappers have any relation to the recently released ones by Necronomfive, or is that entirely your own work?

EverDrive N8 / Re: Gimmick / Sunsoft 5B Audio?
« on: September 12, 2015, 03:51 PM »
Got the same issue here as mentioned above... black screen and power cycling needed. GoodNES ROM, CPU-04 NTSC NES w/ 47k resistor, 8 gig class 10 Transcend SDHC. And Gimmick! worked with the stock mapper before.

Edit: and same thing with Dynamite Batman. If it helps, device info displays OS ver. 11 (11.1 really), Bios ver. 5, Cpld ver. 2. Mapper 069 isn't even listed as supported in mapper info.

Super EverDrive / Re: Zelda Parallel Remodel
« on: July 07, 2015, 05:18 PM »
Same for me, black bars on the title screen but game looking fine, though I literally got stuck somewhere and couldn't move anymore after about 15 minutes into the game, seems quite a buggy hack.

On this hack (ver. 1.1) I get a corrupted title screen with the SED v2, is that normal? It doesn't happen on footage I've seen on youtube, is the hack just designed with inaccurate emulators in mind?

Super EverDrive / Re: DSP-1 with broken pin
« on: November 27, 2014, 12:26 PM »
I think I have too much solder on most pins; I had the problem that the solder would run down the pins at times and would up blobbing at the other side of the PCB. I had to fix lots of bridged pins, it really wasn't beautiful haha.

Most joints also have that matte finish that they really shouldn't have, I used standard 60/40 stuff here.

I know the soldering is awful, I've barely soldered anything before. I might redo it a bit. Anyway, I've tested almost all DSP-1 games on this and could see no issues at all. Then again I'm not sure if there might be any scenario where the game starts up but acts weird, or if starting up means that the chip works 100%.

The broken pin is the one at the bottom left corner; looking at the pinout, it has to be either for Vcc, D8 or CLOCK.

Super EverDrive / DSP-1 with broken pin

I just installed a DSP-1 onto my Super Everdrive v2, but due to my complete lack of desoldering skills part of one of the pins broke off during desoldering. When soldering the chip I simply filled the gap with solder. Now I just tested Super Mario Kart and the game appears to work just fine, but in theory, can any problems arise when bridging a pin like that (apart from a bad solder connection I suppose)?

EverDrive GB / Re: Swap A & B Buttons round?
« on: November 19, 2014, 08:52 PM »
I've asked about this once for the Super Everdrive and got no answer. For some reason krikzz seems to like this counter-intuitive button mapping, I certainly can't think of any Nintendo game that uses B to select.

Off Topic / Re: PSIO is going to need a modchip?!
« on: November 01, 2014, 10:10 PM »
I'm annoyed as well learning this just now, I certainly won't be getting a PSIO if things stay that way. If you need a modchip for this might as well have a classic one that is guaranteed to work with all games off the bat. Replacement disc drives are still plentiful on ebay and trivial to install compared to some soldering job...

Super EverDrive / Re: Super UFO pro 8 vs. Everdrive and SD2SNES
« on: September 10, 2014, 07:54 PM »
How accurate is the implementation of spec chips on SD2SNES? I have a feeling that even if SuperFX and the like will be implemented eventually the result won't be 100% true to a real cart. Emulators also had this issue, I believe Starfox had way too high frame rates for the longest time on ZSNES.

EverDrive N8 / ROM info wrong?
« on: August 29, 2014, 10:09 AM »
For example most of the Mega Man games are listed as using horizontal mirroring here, but the N8 shows the [!] ROMs as using vertical mirroring.

Super EverDrive / Re: which portable SNES?
« on: August 25, 2014, 01:01 AM »
The SNES emulators on PSP are overrated like nothing else. In reality the system is simply too slow to emulate any game without frameskip@60 FPS, some don't work acceptably at all (FF III anyone?). Using "accurate" settings for transparencies etc. to show cut down framerates even more, and then there is the tearing vs. VSync+input lag issue like on any other emulator.

Super EverDrive / Swap button option
« on: August 20, 2014, 09:28 PM »
Will there be an option in the next OS version to swap select and cancel buttons, just like on the N8?

Did you try the self test to verify that the Everdrive isn't faulty? Is the battery fresh?
