EverDrive GB / Re: Everdrive GB keeps resetting on GB Boy Colour

"Well... one has to take into account that the GB boy colour is not top quality hardware.
Try borrowing another unit and see how it works.

When you refer to the GB colour you are talking about the off brand Chinese knockoff right, and not the actual Nintendo Game Boy Color/Colour?

Making sure we aren't discussing the official device ("GBC" is better acronym), vs the name of a knockoff device.

EverDrive GB / Re: Everdrive X series and new additional mappers

I guess next best thing is if someone could make patches to the games to make them run on the mappers that already exist.

Swift as I understand it... The cart would have to have a couple of features in order to access DS/GBA connectivity.

First NOR flash memory to hold one game up in the memory, which it could load first instead of the menu. The EZ Flash 3-in-1 uses this option.

For the Pokemon game connectivity the issue comes down to the game trying to detect data form the saves from a certain type of memory, and if it can't find the saves in that memory (the flashcart uses a different kind of save), then it can't use the 'linking' feature. So it would take more work to 'patch' the games to look in the right spot.

There is more detail from Localhorst's research:

EverDrive GBA / Re: GBC RTC
« on: June 11, 2017, 10:29 PM »
Supposedly Goomba has/had some sort of RTC emulation, but I've never tested it... and have no idea how it functions, or if it even works with the EDGBA...

EverDrive GB / Everdrive X series and new additional mappers

What would difficulty to add support for at least HuC3 mapper for Robopon... Granted it wouldn't have access to the speaker or IR, but that feature was more or less useless anyways.

It would also be nice to get support for the Wisdom Tree and other 'unlicensed' games....

It would be nice if it could have MBC7 with accelerometer, but that's just wishful thinking...

"I know some Everdrives allow for save states, but as far as I'm concerned this is Magic, and not implemented on the GBA.)"

It's not magic, but it's also not 'emulation' either... It's apparently making a real time snapshot of whatever is going on in the game, and then saves it to system's ram memory. I don't know how its done but maybe it requires some extra chips on board the everdrive?

It's also apparently volatile as in its only available while the system is running, from what I've read. But it maybe able to save it if you push 'reboot' on the system itself as in the case with the N8? If you push power however, its lost. It's ram save.

There are other flashcart brands that also offer real time save state features, or other tweaks such as slow down, or 10 second rewind, that are not using emulation. But they are also using hardware on the flashcart as well as far as I know. For example the DSTwo + uses its onboard CPU and memory to process all the extra features as far as I know.

However, most if not all GBA flashcarts do not offer 'save states' yet, as far as  I now. You'll be hard pressed to find one that has an RTC built in, as much compatibility as the X5 has, or the amount of memory onboard for loading up larger roms, or even use microSDs allowing for huge library on the flashcart at once.

The only features that some of the older flashcarts have over the new ones is NOR memory that allowed a single game to be copied to the NOR, and then would load up on a regular GBA without having to go through the menus. Only reason this was useful is for a few games that had cross-link features with DS games, that would unlock features in the DS games. Only if it was detecting a 'header' of the game.

Off Topic / Re: NDS Flash Cart and Pack
« on: February 06, 2017, 03:33 PM »
You know the only thing that would get me to buy a new DS flashcart would be if it included complete DSI cart support, and DSIware support. But that would require someway to bypass region locks and DSIware's DRM measures...

There has only been one NDS romcard that had DSI software support (only for the DSI game cards) but its no longer made, and required either an early firmware or rolling back the firmware (as Nintendo patched out the exploit it used). As far as I've read the DSI card support wasn't perfect either (and probably still region restricted).

Animaniacs works fine, just make sure to use the no-intro version of the game.

If you are referring to "Animaniacs: Lights, Camera, Action!"

Yep the No Intro Classic Collection/Mini Famicom roms work perfectly.

One of the air combat games has issues, can't remember what it was... maybe one of the two Top Gun games, has issues. The game becomes uncontrollable and then jams IIRC.

But you can fix it by changing one of the memory settings in the emulator itself, and then it runs fine.

have some issues whit the NES Classic Collektion, maybe the Roms arend that good..

There are bad rom dumps out there. If you find the right ones they work fine.

Pictures of your Gameboy Color? I think there are some fake Gameboy colors out there now, and that might make a difference...

To fix the colors would require for the developer to make a more accurate emulator... But as far as I know they aren't working on it anymore, and haven't for a long time.

Broken Circle seems interesting and apparently was originally supposed to be a licensed  game.
