EverDrive N8 / Re: metroid rogue dawn hack
« on: January 15, 2017, 07:59 PM »
Tested from both my Famicom and NES Everdrive N8s. The hack plays just fine on both of my original hardware and AVS.

Test the patched rom on an emulator to make sure it plays. It's possible you did not use the correct metroid rom to patch with or something went wrong while patching. I recommend using Lunar IPS to patch the rom.

Rename your EDFC folder to something like old-edfc and then load a 20-30mb file on to your sd card. With the file still on the card, load a fresh copy of the EDFC folder to your sd card to replace the old one and then delete the old-edfc and 20-30mb file. Then reload the hack on your hardware. You could have corruption in your mappers causing issues.

RetroUSB doesn't sell the Everdrive. Are you sure that is who you purchased the Everdrive from?

NES emulation is poor on the ED64. Most games will not work on it.

Get a Gamecube, with the Gameboy Player. Use it with the Everdrive GBA.

ED N8 Expansion audio function and Save State function should on AVS

I can confirm that this works on AVS.

Uhhh that's only if you want anything other than the standard cart shell and labels. A regular shell, regular label and plain black screws don't cost extra. Aside from the Black Friday sale that's going on now, SAG's Everdrives are about the same price as what you'd get at the Krikzz store.

This post is also 6 weeks old. Since then it looks like SAG has streamlined their configurations to not have additional charges for basic stickers or screws. When this was posted the cartridge was an additional charge and they wanted $5 just for the front sticker (the rear was another additional charge), and $.50 for plain black screws.

It was a total crapshoot, so it looks like they addressed their BS pricing scheme. They have always come to be $15-$25 more expensive than ordering from krikzz or retrogate. The only real value prop they have over the other stores is that they are US based and will get your flashdrive shipped to you sooner, if you're in the US.

Even now, they don't want to match the discount offered by either of these other stores. AND you still have to pay sales tax when you buy from them. Which, for e-commerce, means I will spend my dollars elsewhere.

EverDrive N8 / Re: Feature Request - history launch menu
« on: November 22, 2016, 10:01 PM »
There is only so much space on the FPGA for menus and features. In the OS v14 revision he removed the "Mapper Info" menu due to lack of space.

I would rather keep the functional features and continue adding new mappers than remove anything we currently have or prevent future development of new mappers and features for a menu that would only be "neat to look at" once in a while.

My Everdrives never get this dirty, how is it possible to get the contacts dirty anyways, if you take it out a lot or does it come from the air?

He said it was in storage for a while. I'm guessing it was a very humid environment and the pins got all jacked from oxidation. They look terrible in the picture.

EverDrive 64 / Re: Some advices needed (Everdrive 64 V3)
« on: November 22, 2016, 07:09 AM »

Unfortunately I'm having some serious problems with it. I downloaded 7Zip and it does not work, so I tried 8 Zip Lite and WinRar, still nothing. I thought the problem was me, so I called a friend of mine which is a programmer and he didn't manage to fix it.

So I thought that probably the problem was in the files and I decided to use this goodset

But there is nothing that I can click in order to download something. It told me to register in order to do it, now I'm logged and I can't click nothing, I just see the name of folders and everything but not link or downloads.

I feel very dumb because everyone say that use ED is very easy. I wasted 3 hours today, I miss my cartridges plug and play :-P
Hope to fix this.

Thanks for the help guys

Once you sign in, the link to the mega directory is visible above the individual images for the different packs (near the picture of Sonic). It is a single link that takes you to a directory where you can download the packs for every console.

i already clean the contacts with isoprophyl and a pencil eraser before the photo.

i test on a toaster with a adapter, on a discrete famiclone, and on a NOAC famiclone. on all i get the same pattern.

It really looks like the graphic glitches you get with dirty contacts. From the picture posted the contacts look really dirty, still. There is almost no shine on them. You may need to use something a little stronger to remove the corrosion from the pins like Brasso.

EverDrive N8 / Re: Update 15 (12 Nov. 16) Can't open ROMS
« on: November 20, 2016, 04:15 AM »
Rename the current EDFC folder (example: old-edfc).
Add a 20-30MB random file to the root directory to clear up fragmentation.
Paste new OS v15 EDFC folder to root directory.
Erase random file and old edfc folder.

Test again.

EverDrive N8 / Re: Just got out of the hospital, 2 questions
« on: November 19, 2016, 08:35 AM »
I checked the header for FF7. It has a huge 2048k PRG ROM. As far as I know, that is too big for the Everdrive N8.

Correct. The Everdrive N8 is 8Mbit (1MB with 512KB PRG+512 CHR+128KB SRAM). It is too small to support the 2MB ROM for FF7.

You're gonna have to buy an actual cart to play that one, as well as Pokemon Yellow, Legend of Link, Megaman 4 - Minus Infinity, Mario Allstars, and all other games/hacks with rom sizes too large.

What brianvgplayer posted is the solution.

Rename the EDFC folder to something else (old-edfc or something)
Add a 20-30MB file to your SD cart root to clear up fragmentation.
Place new EDFC folder with new OS in root directory.
Delete the extra file and renamed folder.

EverDrive N8 / Re: Super Retro Trio save states N8
« on: November 18, 2016, 05:54 AM »
Because of how many clone systems work (ex. ROM dumping on Retron 5) save states probably will never be possible for those systems on the Everdrive. They don't interact with the cart in the correct way to make them possible.

There are clone systems out there that are capable of save states currently, like the AVS. It uses an FPGA to accurately simulate the hardware of the original console and utilizes the cart in the same way an NES does, making them possible.

Do you have the original SEGA power brick?

I do. It's all original from when I got it new over 20 years ago.
