This is a really useful list. Thanks for making it.

Nearly all NOACs won't even load the N8 at all. The rest will not load some games and might not support save states or expansion audio.

The only 2 clones worth your time are the AVS and NT Mini

I've done some research on this and it seems like it is technically possible but many games don't work right when extracted. With a lot of time to fix them and split them it could be done though.

News / Re: EDN8 OS v20-BETA. Large update incoming

Great update so far. I did have a few issues though.
For some reason the EverDrive N8 now randomly crashes while in the menu.
Also Nintendo World Championships loads but does nothing once it is loaded.

Oh ok. So X7 is needed for FM sound? I think the X7 might be best for me.

I'm a bit of a noob with Mega Drive games so the X7 sounds better but I don't really get what you gain practically. I know you get save states but does the extra memory etc make any difference for official release games. For example with other other EverDrives a higher model is needed to play certain games.

EverDrive N8 / Re: Can Someone make these 2 Mappers Supported?
« on: April 30, 2018, 11:10 AM »
With mapper 228 it's no point because there are two games for it. One is Action 52 which is too big to run anyway and Cheetahmen 2 which you can get a patch for to convert to MMC1 so that it does work on your EverDrive N8.

As for mapper 30 it's possible and somebody had a go but it's questionable if it should be added due to profits of other small companies like RetroUSB.

Mega EverDrive / A few Mega EverDrive questions
« on: April 30, 2018, 10:56 AM »
Hi there.

I'm highly considering getting a mega EverDrive at some point but I have a few questions.
I'm considering either the X5 or X7 but not sure which is best for me just yet.

Is there any official games that the X7 can play that the X5 can't?

I am not bothered about Sega 32X and CD but I do want to play master system games.

If I play master system games on a mega EverDrive on a mega drive model 1 can I use an official master system controller as well as a mega drive controller (not at the same time of course)?

I own an unmodded PAL system but would like to play some NTSC games. Can they both handle that?

Many thanks.

Sorry about the huge delay. Thank you for your reply. Sounds like importing a AV Famicom would be a better plan for me.

Unofficially maybe. Officially I doubt it. Krikzz hasn't updated the N8 firmware since 2016 so I think it's unlikely we will see any major updates with new features.

EverDrive N8 / Re: 72 or 60 pin ED?
« on: March 02, 2018, 10:58 AM »
It sounds like to me you would be best buying the 60 pin version as it would work straight away on your Famicom and Krikzz sells a 60 to 72 pin adapter which I believe transfers expansion audio.  That way you get expansion audio on both your consoles and it'll look tidy.

However if you use your NES more then the 72 pin version would be best and then try to get a 72 to 60 pin adapter and mod it to pass expansion audio.

EverDrive N8 / Re: Coolbaby rs-37 famiclone everdrive compatibility

I think it would be very hard to make it work. I guess major modding to the EverDrive or/and console would be required for it to work. I don't even know if it's possible. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. I'm not an expert but going by what I've read with similar issues this is the conclusion I've come to.

I recently picked up the rs-35 system though. I didn't know it would work with the EverDrive. How well does it work? Do save states work? Does FDS work? Does expansion audio work?

EverDrive N8 / Re: NES PAL and Expansion Audio

No Problem :) The Enio Exp board slots directly into the expansion slot on the bottom of a front loader nes console. All you need to do is remove the expansion slot cover and plug it right in. This then enables expansion audio from the nes without the need to do any soldering/mods. A great and simple solution.

Note though that with the Enio exp audio board in place, the slot cover cannot be closed so the white port on the left hand side where it says Unreg, 5V and GND would need to be removed. This is not essential but if you're like me, you'll want the slot cover in place to cover the exp board.

Edit: Forgot to mention that it was also designed so Famicom accessories (like the keyboard) could be connected to the Nes but those accessories are not required to be used so most just use this board for enabling expanded audio. A ribbon cable comes with the board though for those who do want to fiddle around with the Famicom accessories.
Thank you. That sounds really good. I think as long as it works it could be a great solution. Thank you for pointing it out.

Obviously I don't know for sure but I've not heard of plans to do so. I think it's unlikely. The N8 hasn't had an update for a while now and I think Krikzz is mostly interested in getting official games to work.

I've got 4 x Enio Audio Expansion boards on the way to me now. Should arrive shortly. I'll then install them into my 2 x NTSC US consoles and 2 x PAL-A consoles. Once I've slotted them in I'll test the expansion audio on the PAL console and let you know how I go. Can't see why it wouldn't work. In my opinion, using an Enio board is a much better solution than modding your console for expanded audio. Keeps it original and there's less chance of a stuff up occurring in the modding process.

Here's the link if you'd like to purchase one. Just scroll to the bottom where you'll see the Enio Exp board.
Thank you for your reply. I would love to hear how it goes. Could you also explain how it works roughly as I've never heard of one before.
