EverDrive N8 / Re: Glitches in games on EverDrive N8-general

Ok I went ahead and found another "REVA" Karate Champ and this one loads. Whats odd was the one I was having trouble with before was supposedly the fixed rom and the header was correct (mapper 3) but it turns out the non-fixed one or the one without the "[!]" works.

...Go ahead and add "Karate Champ (U) (REVA) [!]" to the non-working list. Oddly enough the "Karate Champ (U) (REV0) [!]" does work but the revision does not boot at all...

Whats really odd is that the OP rom has a "[!]" which usually means a good dump. I mistakingly downloaded a romset from a torrent and its riddled with bad "60 series" dumps. Even the nes map fixer won't correct it enough for some of them to run on the N8. Best bet is to download from reputable sites. I know of one but not sure on the rules for sharing rom sites.

...I can attest that the aforementioned games (Minna no Nakayoshi Daisakusen, Wai Wai World, & Cybernoid ; The Fighting Machine) do not work correctly and they have been tested on a GoodNES-v3.1 Rom set. Also, I do test each available dump for any game that may not work and use nesmappers fix (or fix the header manually) for games with wrong mappers. Although Wai Wai World, & Cybernoid ; The Fighting Machine do work, there are glitches featured and Minna no Nakayoshi Daisakusen just refuses to load at all...

Go ahead and add "Cybernoid, the Fighting Machine" to that list. Although the game runs fine, when you pause and select bombs (hitting A or B) the graphics turn into a mess.

Ok. So I tested v9 and it looks like it still has the glitching of the menu and the random corrupting of gamesaves. However I'm having a hard time getting it to freeze/lock up with the "purple screen of death" so it seems that something definitely was fixed for the better.

...Actually if you were to add all versions and regions of N64 roms (not including overdumps, bad dumps etc.) the total file size (for me anyways...and I'm sure I'm still missing a few roms here and there) is 8.20GB so an 8GB card is not sufficient enough being as any 8GB card you get is not actually 8GB when formatted...

...So far the only way I know of is to transfer the save from the emu to ED via Hex Editor. I have successfully uploaded edited (or hacked saves if you will) to the ED RAM cart. However during the v7/v8 OS upgrade that is found not to work with the X'Eye, the ED RAM Cart saves were corrupted. Fortunately I had it backed up beforehand.

Mega EverDrive / Re: Mega Everdrive boot issues/lockups

...By any chance do you have a Sega CD attached? Might be why you're getting frequent lock-ups/freezing. I get the same thing on my X'Eye. The only remedy in my case was downgrading to OS v6 (the newer OS'es give me the same symptoms you are getting) Also titles of the ROMs were starting to fade and some games would freeze upon reset...

...Well thats just it ; I've been running the Mega Everdrive on the X'Eye with v6 OS now and I cannot recreate any of the abnormalities when v7beta and v8 OS are installed so I would say that something is wrong with the upgrade OS. Something was changed for improvement with the Genesis/Mega Drives, but stability was lost with the X'Eye (and possibly other?) CD add-on...

...What I would like to know if this happens to the other Sega CD models/versions (CD Model #1,#2 CDX, Wondermega etc.) Or is just an X'Eye thing?...

...Greetings all. Just thought I'd share this info ; Been using the Mega Everdrive since last December. Upgraded the OS from v7beta from v6. Game menu starts to glitch. Part of the rom folders and names of ROMs and basically anything with text disappear (so something like "SONIC THE HEDGEHOG" may read like "S N C THE H D GEHOG") As well as periodically freezing when going through menus. Some games don't load, will freeze when loaded or freeze when you reset back to menu. Tested this with v7beta and v8. v6 seems to work fine. Also it is NOT the everdrive as I tested v7beta and v8 with a model 1 genesis and works OK. So it looks like the new OS does not work well with the X'Eye. Would like to know if anyone else with X'eye experiences the same thing...
