EverDrive N8 / SimCity Proto Released. Any chance for a fix?

Game loads but is a jumbled mess. Would be nice to play on the n8. Tested on the AVS with v20 r6 firmware.

Another thing I can think about is v20 is larger than v16 any may take more time to load to memory, thus having more errors if 'wait' states are not readjusted, but that is only speculations

OK, its not just me noticing it then. v20 and all iterations after v16 are loading slow. Not much slower, but it seems to struggle paging through menus and loading games. Never used to do that before.

RC7 fixed some minor glitches with some games in MMC3, but ended up crashing on AVS. The games still have the glitches (they were always supposed to happen), but they look the way they're supposed to. Mega Man 3's stage select glitch is there on real cart, but doesn't extend as far as it did on RC6.

Agreed. So far RC6 is the highest for the AVS. It appears that every MMC3 game has problems or outright crashes (that has never happened before ever, on any Everdrive OS release...not even the initial ones) Something went horribly wrong while mucking around with FDS audio, which regardless of what medium...emulator, N8 OR the actual cartridge, sounds like ass. Most sounds and music just sound wrong...scratchy...echoy....honestly, hard to describe their awfulness. Not sure how someone can tell the difference...except the awfulness is not as....loud? Missing certain channels? You mean there is MORE scratchy, echoey noises to be had? Hopefully RC8 restores all games/mappers to their original, working function.

* Just realized that Akumajou Densetsu does not have FDS sound, has VRC6 (which to me sounds great) I honestly can't tell what FDS soundtrack I would prefer over an original release. I mean I guess the original Zelda intro theme sounds a little better? Excitebike VS. has music on the FDS version so I guess that's something? I don't know....from what I've listened to....not all that great. Maybe I'm missing something here?

I did make sure to delete the EDFC before putting the new one on the drive that's usually enough for it to work.
What you do not understand about the word FORMAT?

I'm formatting right now. And I have re-formatted a few times before when I had issues.

Edit: I did a full reformat and I'm still having the same issues with RC7. Sorry I got frustrated.

Getting the exact same problems on RC7 with the AVS. Haven't tested my AV Famicom/NES2 yet, but it is indeed crashing virtually any extra chip game. Before you ask, yes I formatted the card and drag/dropped the new files. Even deleted older files without overwriting them. It is also not resetting to default (which RC6 did) As it stands, RC7 is incompatible/heavily glitchy with the AVS.

There is an option in settings of the N8 to switch to RESET TO GAME (which will act as a reset in the game itself, powering down is the only way to get back to the menu) and RESET TO MENU which will reset the game back to the N8's menu. I'm not 100%, but I beleive that all games work fine either way. If not, then you can toggle it to RESET TO GAME to have it simulate a real in-game reset.

Actually the full trick is as follows ; "For this code you need Two Controllers. On controller 1 Press start. On controller 2 Press Up and A at the same time. This will bring up The Secret Save Menu. So now you don't have to die to save."

I knew the 2nd controller was involved somehow but it's been a long time since I played the original LoZ. Oops on my end.

Saving work fine. It's the LoZ itself. You need to either A) die in game and select save or B) Hold Up+Start on controller 2 to bring up the save prompt. The save will be written to the memory of the N8 and will be saved to the SD card when you select another game that saves (Zelda II, Crystalis etc.)

The SD card slot on all everdrives and the sd2snes are pretty robust. I don't think it would matter much to switch them out frequently. I can see maybe the push-push fail on some of them, but the ones where the sd card just slides in? Probably not. If anything the sd card itself might be more subjected to wear/tear vs. the slot.

I seem to remember krikzz offering a black and red one at some point. Maybe those were all bought up and all he has left are the yellow shells. Also famicom carts came in a variety of colors and shapes. Would be cool to have an option to buy an N8 with a Salamander famicom cart shell.

If people are upset with the features or the lack of features just tell them if they are unhappy with any Everdrive products, just sell them and buy original. These products are clearly not for you.

OK. Finally completed this. Somewhat enjoyable but just like the first, very repetitive if you're looking to unlock all the parts. The game plays pretty similar to the original but am I mistaken but can you only save ONE track on the controller pak? Thats pretty bad. I mean the original you can save 4 so what gives?

I do appreciate that you no longer have to do cryptic, ridiculous events to unlock all the parts like the first game. Overall though the game is still fun. I can see most people turned off by the graphics and/or gameplay etc. but then again I'm a fan of ChoroQ games so the shortcomings don't bother me.

Also not sure if anyone is interested, but I have saves for both games (Penny Racers (U) and this one) that have everything unlocked. PM me if interested.

OK...tried out beta2 for a bit. Noticed the SMB3 ending curtain glitch is still there. Also I don't remember off hand but was it possible to use save states in a FDS game? I seem to recall it being disabled if you loaded an FDS game. I was able to activate a save state  (in Vs. Excitebike) and the game froze immediately. I was kind of expecting it not to work, but I'm almost certain it just flat out didn't work at all in v16.

Might want to go ahead and re-disable that in beta3 onwards...

So overall how is this new build? Is it worth updating right now or are there too many bugs still present? It seems with opening up to so many new mappers, it has broken quite a few games and some still exhibit glitches. Would be nice to get mappers running 100% before moving onto additional mappers.

I don't think save states is the big selling point here. In addition there are instant loading, games run natively (don't some master system games have problems running via Mega Everdrive? Heard it was controller issues...) Utilize peripherals designed only for Master System (3d glasses come to mind) Can play SG-1000 games only on the master system.

Me thinks the Master Everdrive revision is for Master System enthusiasts. The Power Base converter/Mega Everdrive users accept it as a "good enough" experience of Master System games.
