Off Topic / Re: Playstation 1
« on: November 06, 2016, 12:08 AM »
I know that this question shouldn't necessarily be targeted here but is it totally necessary to hack the console inside as well?? Well as far as I know it is needed to imitate pseudo-transferring data from the CD drive but actually can't they release it in somewhat double form like software on CD + hardware if possible in any way?? I know that CDs should be somehow hacked as well but I don't see any problem if they're mass producing Everdrive for PS1 anyway. This should be so much more compatible and simple plug & play if the CD software just turned on the data transfer from the parallel port to PS1 processor

EverDrive N8 / Transceiver in ED-N8 part number
« on: November 04, 2016, 04:47 PM »
Hi there!! Once I was desoldering Everdrive N8 since it was glitching due to cold soldering, I accidentally damaged one of the transceivers located on the bottom. It says LVTH162245 but I'd like to know the exact part number so I can buy it separately and hopefully repair my N8. I suppose it is probably SN74LVTH162245DGGR but I want some confirmation to be absolutely sure. Maybe Krikzz will answer my question?? Many thanks in advance!!

EverDrive N8 / Re: SRAM ERROR 01
« on: September 16, 2016, 07:07 PM »
YAY, I just resoldered all the joints on the FPGA and guess what?? Right after I turned on the Everdrive, it didn't work but once I ran the test screen, SRAM TEST was OK and after that, my Everdrive started to work again!! Many thanks for the guess!!

Also, this is kinda weird- are cold solder joints common in Everdrives?? So is the factory soldering not so good in it??

Can you provide me some schematic of the Everdrive and point out which parts might need replacement?? Is it possible that FPGA is broken and it will need replacement?? Can I repair it if that is the case??

EverDrive N8 / SRAM ERROR 01
« on: September 15, 2016, 11:56 PM »
Hi there. My Everdrive N8 recently died unfortunately. First of all, I purchased it directly from Krikzz shop website a few years ago so it is original. I remember a few instances when it freezed a game for no reason and once I did SELECT+START+B+A test, it threw SRAM ERROR but after a while, for some reason SRAM test passed OK and it played games again.

Not after some time when I wanted to play my Everdrive, it constantly gave SRAM ERROR on test screen and it doesn't work at all.

I've received 10x new SRAM chips that are exactly the same, IS62LV1024-55H and soldered it on the board. Strangely enough it gives SRAM TEST ERROR as well. At first, it was SRAM TEST ERROR 03 but after some tries, it gave SRAM TEST ERROR 01 (I don't know what the difference is anyway). So after that, I changed the SRAM chip again and it gave SRAM TEST ERROR 01 again, so I really doubt it is actually SRAM chip issue at all. But if not that, so what is?? Can anyone give me any suggestions what's going on?? Can my Everdrive be repaired anymore?? Please for help and response. Many thanks in advance!!

EverDrive N8 / Re: Poke Fami Plus (Famicom Clones Handheld).

Me too. I've purchased this Famicom portable recently:

Unfortunately my Everdrive doesn't work on this machine, it freezes on the blue screen while starting :-\ . I've tried downgrading the software to v10 but it still doesn't start. Is there any solution for this problem?? Maybe I can mod the console somehow?? Many thanks for help and advices, they will be strongly appreciated!!

I second that. Koneko Monogatari juts stays on the title screen and asks you to change to side B and nothing happens :-\

EverDrive MD / Re: Sega CD BIOS file on cartridge problem
« on: November 13, 2015, 02:12 PM »
Try using the non-byte swapped version.

This will never work because Sega processor is built to read little-endian words only, meaning ALL cartridge memories have to be swapbyted, otherwise it will never work. The solution to that must be different

EverDrive MD / Sega CD BIOS file on cartridge problem
« on: November 13, 2015, 01:00 AM »
This isn't quite exactly the issue about the Everdrive but rather the overall idea about Sega CD BIOS loading. I tried to write the multiregion BIOS file to my regular EPROM cart and it always freezes on the main screen. Tried it several times and the result is always the same. Shouldn't the cartridge be somehow configured in order to make it work?? How does the Everdrive achieve this??

My setup is Sega Genesis model 2 (NTSC-US) + Sega CD model 2 (NTSC-US) and I try to write the multiregion BIOS file for model 2 USA version with swapbyte. Many thanks for any advices!!

EverDrive N8 / Re: New mappers in OS v12 v13 don't work
« on: October 24, 2015, 06:44 PM »
This is surprising because when I reformatted the SD card it finally worked, even though I had tried updating software on 2 different SD cards before.... I don't quite know what the deal is with reformatting the card

Make sure you extract the .zip to your PC BEFORE you copy the folder to the SD card

I thought it wouldn't matter and it seems it doesn't, I extracted zip to my PC HDD first and copied files to SD card and still the same thing happens.... I deleted previous software folder as well

As I can see Everdrive shows it is software version 13 but rather shows number of supported mappers 105. Hmm isn't some file corrupted??

EverDrive N8 / Re: Weird save behaviour
« on: October 23, 2015, 07:49 PM »
I experienced the same exact things using original Famicom AV and Everdrive N8 FC version. Sometimes recent save files get replaced by some previous versions of save file. It was so annoying once I was playing Earthbound and all the sudden the save went back pretty much to the beginning of the game. Once that happened I no longer played that game...

EverDrive N8 / New mappers in OS v12 v13 don't work
« on: October 23, 2015, 04:00 PM »
I just updated software on my Everdrive to OS13, I replaced the entire EDFC folder and while I try to run Lagrange Point (mapper 85) or Super Mario World (mapper 90), I get error A4 "mapper not supported" every time. I tried downgrading to OS v12 and the same thing happens, I also tried using 2 different SDHC cards and still no luck.... What is going on??

EverDrive 64 / Nintendo 64 cartridge read protocol
« on: October 09, 2015, 12:46 AM »
There is barely any information about that on the internet and still I am totally confused about that.... How exactly does the N64 read cartridges?? How exactly does it send and receive data from the cartridge?? Any kind of description/documentation?? I know there is Everdrive 64 so this means Krikzz managed to recreate the cartridge ;) . But I still don't know even to this day how the cartridge exactly works and I am very curious what is behind it

EverDrive 64 / Re: Cannot get Everdrive 64 v2 to boot
« on: September 15, 2015, 01:54 PM »
This is right, I desoldered the chip once again and below it I didn't notice 1 trace that got accidently cut off. I soldered a wire and now the Everdrive works fine. So the problem is solved by myself. Damn are those PCBs fragile
