Super Everdrive X5 sd card issue
« on: August 19, 2020, 07:31 AM »
I recently purchased a super everdrive x5 from the site after loving my 64 one, and using it with no issues. I have a 32gb memory card formatted with FAT32 and the v1.03 os, and continually get SD card not found errors. Attached image shows it all. Can anyone help? Thank you in advance.

I have exactly the same issue. Sandisk 32GB sdcard, fat32 formatted.

Loading games from sdcard works fine and quickly.

Whenever I reset the SNES the sdcard isn't detected any more when its trying to load the Everdrive's OS from the card.

Power cycling the SNES solves it.

I have the feeling Mr. Krikzz is not supporting its customers at all. Questions here stay unanswered for months.

In my case the EverDrive X5 works well when I first boot your SNES.

Whenever I press reset I need to power cycle the SNES.

Would be interesting to see if the Chinese Everdrive replica has the same fault.

Power cycle everytime is not a good thing
this should be fixed immediately with an os update its very annoying
Even the Super Everdrive v2 did not have that issue

What's a power cycle and I presume the windows 95 interface prevented the issue on the original one (Aswell as the Chinese one that copied the original OS) While the V2 must have done something else, TBH the worst thing to come from it is how they changed the regular SD for a mini SD not even a Micro SD HC is easy to get out of it.

I just picked up an x5 (waiting for it to arrive) and I hope the issue you describe here isn't replicated with mine. This post and others like it have me worried. Have you tried other micro sd card sizes/brands? I've heard even the 64 version can sometimes be particular about certain cards.

Currently i have my SuperUfo Pro 8 installed into the SNES. Working fine  ;)

The Krikzz Everdrive X5 isn't workable with this SDcard issue in my opinion. Its a standard 32GB Sandisk card I'm using.

I don't have the time to start testing a bunch of different cards.

If the Krikzz Everdrive meets the SD specs it should work with any card (upto a certain size), as the SD comms standard is quite well defined

I guess when this is a known issue we should file a warranty claim as all products sold within the EU should have a 2 years warranty.

Found a potential workaround to the issue. It's not an ideal solution, but it worked for me.

I got my x5, set it up with an SD card I knew works from my Everdrive64 2.5. Worked well, but every time I reset I got a red error screen. Figured the problem was with the OS and downgraded to v1.00 and I don't encounter the problem anymore. The cart resets to the main menu without issue (so far). I'm willing to take whatever issues 1.00 might have for that. It's not the fix we need, but workable for the time being.

Yes it appears to be. I wrote Krikzz a message about it, so hopefully he will have the time soon to take a look.

Yes, it works great! KRIKzz sent it to me after I wrote him a message about the issue.
