TED 2.4 as Super System or Arcade Card replacement?
« on: April 21, 2016, 02:51 AM »
Is it possible to use the ram on the TED 2.4 to replace Super System or Arcade Card functionality?

Check the thread 'Running the BIOS for the Super System CD Card' a few down.
Short is - super system 3.0 yes, arcade no

That is true, I did see that topic.

Partly my fault but I should have been more clear.  The Duo as mentioned in that topic has the built in memory for the Super System CD card.  A normal PC Engine with CD addon or Turbografx 16 with CD addon does not have any built in memory for that function.  My hope was with the ram on the TED 2.4 it could be mapped for Super System CD or Arcade card use.  Then I wouldn't have to swap the TED 2.4 and a Super System card in my Turbografx 16 + CD addon combo.

You can use an everdrive as a super system 3.0 card in a Turbografx 16 + CD addon combo, but not as an arcade/duo card as it is not able do that...

System 3.0 adds 64k RAM to the consoles. They are normally on System 3.0 card and built into Duo systems.  TED 2.x has those RAM and can be used that way with modified System 3.0 ROM.  An original System 3.0 ROM does not work correctly on TED and can cause problem.

Older TED 1.x do not have the RAM and can't be used to run System 3.0 at all.

Arcade Pro/Duo has a lot more than 64k, it goes up to about 2300k (18 Megabit) and TED does not have those.

Thanks guys.  I feel rather dumb now, I tried out BIOS on my TG16+CD and it worked perfectly for Super System CD games.
Thanks again for being patient with me.  :)

Here are the EverDrive-patched CD BIOS files if you would prefer to keep your TED plugged in.

Could you please share the file again? The link is broken and I would really like to be able to run the system card directly on my TurboEververdrive. :'(
