Problem with Mega Everdrive X5: Disk Error 03
« on: July 29, 2020, 10:52 PM »
I've been sitting with this error which spontanously started happening playing on my Mega Everdrive X5 on a Mega SG.
Original games works without any problems but the ROMs on the memory card has suddenly started to glitch out and some games even refuse to boot.

For example:
Phantasy Star IV has graphical glitches on the terrain.
Mega Turrican works until a few seconds into the game and then freezes.

This card has worked for a year and is a 16GB Kingston Class 10 MicroSD card.
Doing the diagnostic test checks everything out except from disk test where it gives me Error 03.

I've formatted it multiple times and it still gives me the exact same errors.

Does anybody have an idea? Is the Everdrive crapping out or is it the memory card itself?

Does anyone know what error 03 even means? I've looked everywhere but can't find any information on it.

Such error not exist, likely communication between mega-sg and cart hardware isn't stable.

Should I maybe send the cartridge in for repairs then?
This is what it looks like:

Do you insert the cartridge completely? Try pulling back a little in one of it's sides. Worst case scenario there will be no changes, so it's worth a shot.

can't say for sure without test with another console and sd card. But if you can't test it then you can send cart to us and we will check.

Hi all! Thank you! It was due to an micro SD card that was messing up. Everything solved itself by switching out the card.
