v1.6 vs v2.1 Super Everdrive?
« on: November 29, 2013, 10:56 AM »
So other than the addition of a save battery and rearranged circuitry, what are the differences between the last model (v1.6) and the new one (v2.1)? Stability improvements? Loading time?

And just curious, if the saves work directly from the SD card, why would you need a save battery? I know there's a good reason for it, otherwise Krikzz wouldn't have put one on the new version :)

Thanks again!

loading speed faster a bit
game genie cheats
new interface, which is more handy, i believe.
simple dsp instalation. not need any extra parts, exept dsp chip itself
more files per folder (up to 1024)
circuit does not emit a lot of rf noise, but i sure, you guys don't care (:

Battery itself does not change anything in ters of saves. Both carts uses ram for save, in both carts data transfers  from ram to sd card when user change the game. ed v1 used nonvolatile ram, so it not need the battery, but this ram is pretty expensive and only 32KB capacity, so, i decide move to 128KB of battery ram. Part of this ram used for saves, and another part used for OS. Extra ram hels to improve OS

The best upgrade is the flush fitting spring loaded SD card slot!  My 1.6 is so jealous!

what kind of updates could there really be? Game Genie support is probably hardware based (so new firmware/OS couldn't add it), the games that v1.x supports are basically set in stone, loading times are hardware based. It's still a good cart, and getting one on clearance is a plus until someone were to have the money/desire to upgrade. I'm happy with my v1.6 so far :)

Hello,
one question. Is it possible to plug the Super Everdrive or maybe any other Everdrives on top of a Game Genie Cartridge and use it?

How about the SD2SNES? Does it have Game Genie Support and Save State?
