Request: A Miniature SD Card Solution - No Cartridge Case Mod
« on: September 30, 2012, 10:46 AM »
I'm very near to buying an Everdrive v2, but there's one thing that's bothering me. I want a solution in which the cartridge is completely closed, that is, there is no slot cut for the SD card or the USB port.

The problem I've run into, however, is that the Everdrive only takes an SD card and, besides doing some crazy soldering which I don't know how to do, there's simply not enough room in the cartridge.

I read on Assembler forums that it's possible to cut some SD cards in half since the case is half empty for some, but I don't know which SD cards are half empty and which aren't. I'd rather not take a chance buying a 8GB SD card only to get it in and realize it's too big and I can't cut it in half.

I found this via a Kickstarter capaign and was wondering if it would be too thick to fit into the metal slot for the SD card. It doesn't seem to have been intend to fit into the type of slot that Krizz is using for the Everdrive. Does anyone know if this will work?

If it won't, does anyone know of an 8GB sd card that can have half its case cut off to fit into the N64 cartridge?

that adaptor you mentioned looks thicker than a sd card, chances are it wont be suitable for everdrive, best bet is my solution i posted, its only 2GB but its the biggest one i can find...

I may have found the ultimate solution. Pretty pricey though. More expensive than the micro-SD card itself. Looks like I'll also have to wait till December. Sigh...this is sad.

ED64 v2 does not support short mmc or rs-mmc cards. Only SD/mini/micro is supported

At the risk of digging up an old thread  ... This will do it for you ;) . It is a "short" MicroSd adapter.

I actually had this same concern.

I got this, chopped off the USB end with scissors and it works and fits PERFECT!!! and $3 free shipping? can't beat that!

I'm confused about this. Does't RS-MMC operate exactly the same as a standard SD card? Is this true with other Everdrives as well? I ask because I bought a couple online for my Super ED and ED-MD.
