Hi,

as I'm desesperatly looking for this game (full version which comes from 45-in-1 multicart, look at: http://bootleggames.wikia.com/wiki/JY-120A_45-in-1_Multicart)
I was wondering if EverdriveN8 can help me to play this valuable game?

If somebody had tried or knows, I would be glad to know I can order EverdriveN8 or not (since I will do it only for this game which explains my reluctance to order it before knowing if it works or not)

Thank you for your help,

Pic.

We have alot in common my friend  :), as I started a WTB post looking for the same multicart http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=1713.0 . I wouldnt think that the mappers would work on the complete version of that game, which the only complete version was on the 45-in-1, but i dont own a N8 yet to test for you (gonna get one soon hopefully :) ). If we are lucky, there is an incomplete version on individual pirate carts that probably has been dumped that may or may not work.
Also, between the hacks, fds games, retail games, and few pirates that would work on the N8, along with save state mappers for certain games and game genie codes, it is still totally worth getting one imho even if the 45-in-1 didnt work.

I went to go dig. It's mapper 90 which is not supported by N8. Krikzz even commented on this.

MottZilla on NesDev said it was too much of a pain to port it to another mapper (and he is someone who could actually pull this off). It looks like your best bet is to find the real cart.

No. Requires mapper 90 to run. it's not supported yet.

That's a load crap right there, sorry to say. If he can get mappers 4 and 5 (which, by the way, happens to be much more complex than a pirate mapper) implemented, then he can certainly can get 90 and the other Hummer Team/JY mappers implemented. He took that so called "quote" from Disch, who said that in 2006, we're in 2014. >_> The funny thing is, 90 (along with mappers 209 and 211 which are based off 90. They are small derivatives compared to 90 ) is VERY similar to mapper 4, so most of Hummer Team's mappers are BASED off of mapper 4. If tons of emulator authors can do it, the so can Krikzz, even if it's in VHDL! :D

Even if mapper #90 was to be implemented, that particular multicart wouldn't work. It's simply too big. It's 4mb and Everdrive n8 and Powerpak only have 512k for CHR and 512k for PRG. So while the standalone Super Mario World pirate might be possible, the more complete version from the multicart would not be unless someone manage to extract that version of the game from the multicart and make it work as a standalone game.

Also, you guys are mixing up what Mottzilla said. He is saying that hacking the mapper 90 game to convert it to another mapper would be a pain, not just implementing support for mapper 90. This was obviously done before since its already being supported by nes emulator.

The standalone cart of Super Mario world for Famicom WILL work if 90 is implemented (both complete and incomplete versions. A standalone complete version was dumped from that exact same multicart.) Besides, you don't even need multicart roms on a flash cart for obvious reasons. ;)

In a technical stand, would it be easier to try to implement the mapper 90 or do a mapper hack to mapper 4 if they share such similarities?

There is a mapper hack to mapper 4 for the Aladdin pirate that also runs on Mapper 90. Look for an [HM04] tag on the end of the file. Tekken 3 is a mapper hack to mapper 4 for Tekken 2, which used mapper 90. But there isn't one for SMW.

Just wait for it to implemented. It's NOWERE near as hard as mapper 5.

Implementing mapper 90 won't be tricky for someone that is used to how NES hardware works. It would be much easier to implement it than hack the game to use another mapper that's for sure. It should be possible to run the SMW bootleg once mapper 90 get implemented. But any bootleg or multicart that are bigger than 1MB will probably never work. The max supported size for game on Everdrive N8 or Powerpak is 512K PRG and 512K of CHR.

The full game is 768 KB extracted. Just in case anyone needs that for the sake of this discussion.

I was referring to the size of the multicart that was the original subject of the discussion. The multicart is about 4Mb. The standalone game could be supported though.

Agreed. There's just a version of this floating around that is already extracted. So it saves a little trouble.

So it looks like the powerpak can play it (cant tell if it is complete or incomplete version) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXBMicWcDEQ
How does one compile a mapper for the nes? I found this page with info on the mapper, but idk if it is possible to compile his info into a workable mapper for the N8.

If it goes to all 7 worlds, it's the complete version (the one you can download off here: http://cah4e3.shedevr.org.ru/). You program it in VHDL. I assume that's how he's doing it.
