Hi, first post here, ED64v3 noob, I love it, but there is an Aussie game I want to play.

I have a Jap NTSC console and a PAL TV
all native NTSC games work lovely and other PAL roms that have been patched to NTSC (airboarder) work fine but HSV adventure racing (the 'NTSC' patched version) just blinks a black and white dialog screen about the controller pak

If I load a PAL version it looks fine but gets stuck at the 'not meant for this system' screen

I tried patching myself with S-paladin to NTSC and 'remove region lock' but when loaded it just does the same as the original PAL rom & gets stuck at the 'not meant for this system' screen

So is there a way to remove the region lock from the rom? S-Paladin seemed to do absolutely nothing...it didn't even alter the 'last modified' date of the file in windows explorer!

thanks

Also, can someone please have a look at this, it would be good to be one step closer to a full, working ROM set :http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=2356.msg24318;topicseen#msg24318

Paladin looks for the most common code blocks for determining the region, so if it doesn't work, it's using code that cannot be recognized, and that means you will need to disassemble the rom and look for how they are handling that and design a patch yourself. Good old rom hacking!

can someone have a look at that?

Probably not many people into N64 hacking here... try googling for a more active N64 group, like one still working on hacks for Mario64 and the like.

well hsv adventure racing is one of the pal only releases i was never interested in finding an ntsc fixed version, mainly because it's the same game as beetle adventure racing which is available as a usa rom. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beetle_Adventure_Racing not sure if you were aware of this fact or if you still want a working version of hsv adventure racing to complete your rom collection which work on everdive 64.

ok. i will give the ntsc fixed version a go tomorrow on my setup and see if i can get it working. if so i will let you know :)

edit - the ntsc fixed rom i found worked fine on my ntsc setup, not problems at all on the controller pack screen. apart from having the borders on the top and bottom of the screen the game seemed to run ok.

Some good progress here : http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=2877.msg28394#msg28394

I think the community would benefit from this being fixed, one more step towards a complete ROM set...

hehe, its funny how on Wikipedia it says "Similar to EA's Need For Speed series" and if you look at the debug menu of Beetle it says "Need For Speed" :D

Its quite cool that they dedicated a game to a single country. At the same time it can be quite anoying if you found bugs in one and not another.

Hi, if you really want to play the game, you could buy an PAL N64 and install Saturnus UltraCIC II on your Everdrive 64 v3. With this setup you can play anything.
