The v2 removed the full-sized SD slot.

Yes, but  I think DandySephy's point was that (depending on the cart/shell of course) you may see a micro SD slot on the top of either a v1 or v2, as the point you made was not clarified in strider1911's original statement. However, I believe most places that sell the MED in a shell probably cover the micro SD slot on the v1 board, exposing only the SD slot, but that could vary from shop to shop - some may expose both or neither (for those who want it fully covered).

I would say the better way to tell is the location of the slot - if it's way onto one side, it's the v1, while if it's closer to the center, it's v2.

Pics for comparison's sake:

v1:

v2:
2600-Harmony Encore; NES-PowerPak, EverDrive N8; GB-EverDrive GB v1; SNES-Super ED v1, SD2SNES; GEN-Mega ED v1; N64-ED64 v2; NGPC-Bung 32Mb, NeoFlashMasta, NeoFlashMasta USB, NGP SD; GBA-EZ-Flash II 256Mb, EZ-Flash IV Redux, ED GBA X5; NDS-R4

Yes, exactly.

Personally I like having both ports as they have their own advantages but both carts having micro sd slots make the original post misleading.

I suspect other shops will get the v2 once their stock of v1 is gone or once KRIKzz can provide v2 to them (even retrogate does not have them in stock due to supply problems, so if they can't supply them then no one else can either).

I can't see enough reason to upgrade my Mega ED V1 but if I ever need to buy another Sega Mega Drive flash cart, I'd go with this of course. Just one question: I understand that the 99% compatibility figure is necessary but, is there any proven game that does not work with the Mega ED?

IIRC some games use save tech that isn't supported (sports games mostly)

Oh and Krikzz doesn't support Pier Solar by choice, which I think is reasonable.

You aren't the brightest person ever judging by your past posts so your opinion is just about worthless...

What does that even mean?
