64DD conversion roms - test menu

just started a new thread about it, 'cause i think it's interesting enough not to get lost in a thread, which title states that it is not working. hrhr

original post is over here:
http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=2978.msg29766#msg29766

here is a test menu, for running the conversion roms.

Code: [Select]
28M Dezaemon 3D [Patched].z64
63M NUD-DKIJ-JPN.n64
63M NUD-DKKJ-JPN.n64
63M NUD-DMBJ-JPN.n64
63M NUD-DMGJ-JPN.n64
63M NUD-DMPJ-JPN.n64
63M NUD-DMTJ-JPN.n64
63M NUD-DPGJ-JPN.n64
64M NUD-DSCJ-JPN.n64
64M NUD-EFZJ-JPN.n64

hint: if a rom doesn't load it might be 'cause of file system fragmentation.
the ed64 dma transfer is a bit buggy ^^

you can use this tool to make a full low level format and than the windows explorer to format the sdcard with FAT32,
if you ran into such issues.
http://hddguru.com/software/HDD-LLF-Low-Level-Format-Tool/

changelog v0.1.8.10-64dd_v05:
- on the ED64v3 'START' doesn't load the savegame from sd

changelog v0.1.8.10-64dd_v04:
- added special savetype for f-zero to save both rom and sram

changelog v0.1.8.10-64dd_v03:
- battletanx boot timing fix
- several rom info screen fixes
- f-zero 64dd conversion rom detection
- del rom config files, that caused save errors
- add f-zero japan CFZJ config file

changelog v0.1.8.10-64dd_v02:
- experimental saving support (about 11min save time)

F-Zero XP, translated into English.  Let me know of any bugs.

The Easter Egg in there is dedicated to Satoru Iwata.

alt64_v1810-64dd_v06.tar.xz that can handle this new file
https://d.maxfile.ro/qdgtxkgyry.tar.xz
Installation:
put the ED64 directory on your sdcard root. ^^

create a folder called 64DD in your sdcard root
put your 64DD roms into that folder

e.g.
/64DD/Sim City 64.n64

Oh cool :>

https://github.com/PeterLemon/N64/tree/master/Translate/SimCity-64

i tested the translation and there is still a lot left in japanese ^^

Thank you SO much for starting a thread about this! As long as this works, I don't mind Krikzz NOT putting this in the main OS.

maybe he could improve the writing (saving) speed significantly. ^^
i already sent him technical details about this, so there is still a chance this could be added to the original OS.

Remember you can only applaud saturnu once every 48 hours so it'll take a few years to get the karma level right to +1 million.

Saturnu <3

Let's wait for krikzz, i think he will not let this out of the OS, last time i talked to him, he said he was on a vacation, so i think that when he's back to work, he might put this in the next update =)

I loaded only what was in the alt64.zip file onto my SD card, and get a blank screen loading 64DD.n64 games.  I also tried to format the sd card using hdd guru software, no help.  Windows didn't even see it as formatted after using that, so I had to reformat myself using Windows tool.  Still get a blank screen.  I tried Sim City and F-Zero

saturnu, can you please confirm that Fzero is being treated diferent from the other 64DD games,  'cause it does not display 64DD ROM conversion and I can't rename the file and it doesn't save either.

Thanks again for this fantastic job.

This I like : Saving!! yeah baby!!!!

How do you download the translation patch? I cant find a download button on that Github page...
Or does someone have the rom pre-patched?
Also, can someone please have a look at this, it would be good to be one step closer to a full, working ROM set :http://krikzz.com/forum/index.php?topic=2356.msg24318;topicseen#msg24318

I tried Sim City and F-Zero

??? as far as F-Zero is concerned, I would think this to be expected since F-zero required both games inserted.

Unless Saturnu managed to achive this somehow I doubt this will work.

It could maybe work somehow if you loaded the cart rom into the ED SRAM as normal then on DD load you translate the DD block info to FAT info for SD card.
