SED2SNES fakes?
« on: June 24, 2015, 01:11 AM »
while looking for a cheap SD2SNES (yeah i know cheap is bad, but i would still like to find the best deal possible).....anyways, i stumbled across one on aliexpress (yes i also know aliexpress is bad for fakes)....anyways idk if linking is against the rules so i wont include a link, but the price seemed too good to be true so i decided to just look over the page and see what it said, so in there it says

Warning: we will use our newest firware for SD2SNES, please don't update the firware again.  Or maybe have problem.

i was kinda under the impression there was no fake SD2SNES carts, i know about the china version everdrives that where "sub-lisenced" so "official-ish", but not supported by krikzz, and im just wondering if these are the same deal or if there is just plain old knock off SD2SNES carts about

You could build your own SD2SNES.

All of the files are available on GitHub.

I would have given a more sensible advice : If you don't want any problems , be more patient, save your money and finally buy a sd2snes at Krikzz's shop  ;)

yeah im not stupid i know the whole "do not update the firmware" is a tell tale sign of fakes, i was just unaware that the SD2SNES actually had fakes floating around, this thread was more just to see if you guys where aware so as to warn people or whatever same as i have seen warning about the knockoff ever drives etc

as for just coughing up and buying it at whatever price, yeah i could, but i am a bit of a legit cart collector and when i have the spare money i often get drawn to buying something new for my collection, as much as i really want a SD2SNES there is always something pulling me the other way  :P

anyways, thanks for the advice, i was unaware it was all open source, quite cool i guess.......anyways thanks for the responses i'm not in any mad rush t buy, its one of those things i will get around to eventually :)
