Question for Krikzz about everdrive hardware changes
« on: October 13, 2015, 07:00 AM »
Hi ,

a quick question for Krikzz.

I understand that you are currently working on software updates for the everdrives. Thank you for the hard work. :)

Does Krikzz have plans to make hardware updates to the everdrives or they are more or less completed?

------Update

If you are asking to know if it safe to buy as no new hardware updates would come along say 1Y for now, think again.
It makes no sense as a question, Krikzz has kept updating the hardware all along, sometimes minor changes sometimes major changes.
He will not stop as long as it makes sense to improve.

So you probably should ask a specific question on a specific Everdrive if you are afraid a new version would come out soon after you bought and even there Krikzz can decide how better to answer.

Also most of Krikzz Everdrives play close to 100% of the games for the consoles they are built for already but keep in mind there's always 1 or 2 titles that have glitches, issues etc... across the line but it is all very well reasonable.

So do not think that you are "investing" in an Everdrive per se, or that you can keep it forever, just think how much more you will enjoy your consoles, at that point it really doesn't matter as much as you think.
Even if a new one comes along that supports 1 or 2 more games and you really really have to have it you can always sell the old one say for half the price and buy the other.

Or you can wait for say 5 years and see what happens in the meantime, maybe you'll buy the latest one then but you missed 5 years of enjoying everything else the Everdrive line of flashcards already allows you to enjoy, the choice is yours.

And sometime, there will never be better.
Look at Skunboard for Atari Jaguar. Yes it's not perfect, and many people complain about it. But there is nothing else. And there are not available anymore.
Same as :
- Pokécard for PokemonMini (can't hold every games at once)
- VecFlash for vectrex (not compatible with all homebrews as far as i can remember)
- FlashBoy+ for Virtual Boy (can hold only one game at once)
- Lynx Multicart from Lynxman  for Lynx (can hold only one game at once).
- FlashMasta for Neogeo Pocket (can hold two games at once)
- MWRMC 8-in-1 for Supervision (can't hold all games at once, no menu).

These are some exemples. All those items work well, indeed, but are not perfect.
For those systems, you can still wait for better... but may never be one.

From what people say the N8 has trouble with emulating expansion sound chips. So you can consider most FDS games (Dracula II Noroi no Fuin etc) as having sound issues (not to mention the side changing issues). The rest of the games you listed probably work without problems. There's a compatibility list for N8 you can check.
