Error code 13 and other issues
« on: July 15, 2019, 11:02 AM »
I have a front loader with the copyright chip de-pinned that is otherwise un-modded. I am having issues that don't seem to have been asked here before, so here goes.

I have had my cart for about a week now, and have not been able to get any game to launch. First I was getting error code 10, but that went away when I got a new micro-sd -> sd adapter. Next I got the pirated cart error, which went away when I updated from 14 (I think) to 20rc7. Now I am getting visual corruption when I navigate through files, disk io 63, 62, error 52, error 13, and black screen seemingly at random. I have tried 3 different sd cards from different makers and even tried going to 20rc4, but no dice.

Any advice?

Can't say for sure, but that is likely a clone cart.

Is there a way to tell looking at/testing the board? I have some electronics equipment.

Not sure, but when I see "from China" in the sales description, that's usually a pretty good indicator. There are others here that are likely more familiar with the board than I am that could help.

I don't know that V20 firmware actually plays very nicely with clone carts. It doesn't even always play nicely with the real deal and certain system setups. You might want to try V16, the last official firmware release.

Where can I find v16? I can only see v20.

Also, looking at the board, It is a v1.4N 28.06.2014. Anyone have a pick of what it should look like? There are some small differences between mine and the v1.4N 28.06.2013 here http://krikzz.com/pub/support/var/pcb/everdrive-n8-nes.jpg

The chips that change the logic up to 5v from 3.3v are different and one small surface mounted passive to ground is a few mm out of place near the CIC chip. Otherwise the back side is the same. I don't have a picture of the front side to compare.

edit:
If it means anything, I just ran the self test.
With the sd card, everything passes.
Without the sd card, spi fails error 40

If any of these need to be re-taken, just ask.

I will be trying to return it but it sat on a shelf for a while so amazon might not want to help.

taken from fake sd2snes topic
Looks Chinese. KRIKzz never uses TIANQIU batteries as far as I know. ;)

Is the battery really a strong evidence to say this is a clone?

Amazon took it back.

I ordered a new one from the real store.

It worked right away.

Thanks!
