Everdrive N8 save SRAM file with incorrect extension
« on: February 26, 2013, 01:01 AM »
I just noticed that my Everdrive N8 create SRAM file with *.nes extension. It would be useful to fix it so that they get saved as *.sav. Not sure if it was intentional but I highly doubt.

It would make more sense to name them the same as the rom but with *.sav or *.srm extension. The whole reason for file extension is to indicate what kind of file it is. In that case they are not NES binary so they shouldn't get labeled as such. I hope you will re-considera this.

i don't see this as an issue myself. i mean if the sram files were saving to the rom directory then it would cause confusion but the fact that they are saving to a save directory no problem.

but this is an issue if you decide to use these files on an emulator etc. you have to rename the save file extensions. *.sav or *.srm is much better for universal compatibility.
PM me if you want to sell your Everdrive MD.

Of course you can just rename them, but I don't see any logical reasoning to save a file with the wrong extension beside save a bit of time while coding.
