super magic drive floppy?
« on: March 22, 2013, 06:15 PM »
not a megaED question i know, but kinda related...

does anyone know where i can get a floppy drive for my Super Magic Drive? mine's gone missing over the years and i'd kinda like to have it running properly, even though i'd never use it now i have the mega ED...
failing that, does anyone know which parts i can use to botch one together?
am i right in thinking that they used some kind of parallel interface?

Nope, the drive is wired straight up through a DB-25 connector. Looks like parallel, but it isn't. See:

i have a couple of straight through parallel cables for my Bung gear, so i might try and knock up an adaptor using the wiring diagram on that thread... cheers paps, i'll drop a note on here if i manage to get it sorted, along with pics etc in case it helps anyone else...  :)
