How to convert .smd to .bin on OS X
« on: March 14, 2013, 11:27 PM »
If you need to convert .smd to .bin on OS X Mountain Lion.

Make sure you have XCode and command line tools installed. Then, download ucon64 sources: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ucon64/ucon64-2.0.0-src.tar.gz?download

  tar -xcvf ucon64-2.0.0-src.tar.gz
  cd ucon64-2.0.0-src/src
  ./configure --without-zlib
  make
  sudo make install

Now, in your ROMs folder:

  ucon64 --bin *.smd

I dunno if this is really necessary given the message in the smd-to-bin tool but the different filenames annoyed me.

Prebuild binaries are too ancient for modern macs and the normal build doesn't work because dbjh's zlib binding is wonky.
